2021 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think Freeman will hit for a little more power than Fletcher, but a guy who can get on base, hits for decent average, steals a few bases, and has versatility, that's pretty fair.

I was thinking since Freeman is a taller and slightly bigger guy than Fletcher, the power potential is higher, but the numbers kind of at the moment are saying they could be really similar style of players...

Fletcher is a solid player and if Freeman becomes a Fletcher its a win.

But Freeman is a far better prospect than Fletcher was, esp his hit tool...and he has out produced Fletcher at the same age and levels, usually by a wide margin.

Freeman at his ceiling is Alex Bregman, to me.

Always has been. Kid knows how to hit, the body and the power seem to be coming along.

As he gets older and matures, the hit tool can really take off. I think he’s staying up the middle for sure.

He’s a brick shithouse now, compared to coming into the org.

Fletcher is a quality player and has a hell of a hit tool in his own right.

I’m just not sure Freeman is a guy I’d give up for that value.

Hope he doesn’t take on Bergman’s a-hole personality too.

Pretty bold statement.

When Jim Thome first came up they were comparing him to Wade Boggs. Nobody but Charlie Manuel saw the hidden power inside of Thome . Arias lost a year of development last year so technically he is a year behind Where Machado was when he came up with the O’s. I’m not saying Arias is Machado 2.0 but wouldn’t be surprised if He does

one (major) difference is that we only signed one of them - after drafting both

Also Madrigal is actually closer to Fletcher than Freeman since he is a much smaller guy... Freeman has a few inches on both guys and definitely has more room for power development....

If Freeman develops additional power he could compensate for his likely lower hit tool than Madrigal/Fletcher (I really just don't think it's very possible to match what would be 2 of the 3 lowest K%'s in the league). Maybe he can aspire to be more of a Whit Merrifield kind of player. Right now he does seem like more of a Madrigal lite though.

MLB updated their farm system rankings. They have Cleveland at #13 and Freeman, Valera, Jones, Arias, and Espino bunched together from #65 to #100.

Not really what I'd expect of a top 5 but it's kind of splitting hairs. I think I'd have Rocchio in there though.

Rocchio getting zero love from the services.

Big league teams understand the future value of a switch hitting, premium defense shortstop who is RAKING for his level.

Plus, the reports from Cleveland on his leadership and general approach to the game have all been plus.

That’s not inside info, it’s just how pretty much everyone has covered him thus far. Can’t understand how that isn’t higher on a Top 100 list?
