2021 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Unless you saw this coming (I'd call BS), Garuba's gotta rise on your board with how he's played the last couple months. If you had him late first round in April, he should be late teens now. If you had him late teens, you should have him late lottery now. If you had him late lottery, he should be in that interesting 6-8 range where the Cavs may be drafting.

Speaking of players peaking at the right time, KK Mega led by Cazalon, Petrusev, and 2020 draftee Simonovic upset Red Star today to level the Serbian League finals at 1-1. As I mentioned before, Red Star and Partizan have dominated Serbian basketball almost without exception since WWII, so a series win by Mega would be historic. Red Star already won the higher-level Adriatic League championship, so it'd be a shocking defeat if they come up short here.

Moses Moody would be great fit and compliment to Okoro, Sexton and Garland.Long and another disruptor on the defensive end to compensate for the poor defensive skills of Sexton and Garland. Teamed with Okoro and you get two quality defenders on the wings

I think he is ok as far as fit. But not unless the Cavs trade out of the lottery. He has no elite skill at all.

Is Garuba much diffrent from Isaiah Stewart? I loved Stewart coming out of HS FWIW.

From this scouting report , Garuba is very crude offensively who can overpower lesser competition , poor free throw shooter.

a good shot blocker and rebounder .

don’t see this guy as a top ten player or a guy the Cavz should take

Again...yeah...if you asked me in January (when this video was posted) I would've had little interest in him. But he's progressed more than any other prospect in the second half of the season, and you can't ignore that.

Looking for video of Garuba saw Tavares-forgot that he was ever on CAVS. Why did we dump him?

Most of the videos said virtually the same thing that his offense is limited to dunks at the next level and He is only 6’8” . “A
shorter version of Bismarck Biyombo ” according to one report

Yeah, again, these are largely out of date. A couple days ago he drained three 3's in an elimination game...Biyombo's 0-3 from 3 for his entire career.

Plus, Biyombo is also 6'8"...so why "a shorter version of"?

The video said Biyombo was 6’10”

Here are recent comments from espn Jonathan Givony :

The 19-year-old is widely projected to be a mid to late first-round pick following a strong run in Europe. He is viewed as one of the top defensive prospects in the draft and has drawn comparisons to OG Anunoby and P.J. Washington.

Garuba reportedly has a 7-foot-3 wingspan that figures to intrigue teams at the next level. He projects to make an impact on both ends of the floor, and has shown an ability to hit from 3-point range, converting on 30.3% from beyond the arc this season.

Ok, Garuba has developed a 3 point shot unlike what the videos I saw never mentioned. However much of what I researched and correct me if I’m wrong but his game sounds very similar to A guy on our roster in Kabengele”s and He is listed at 6’10”.

“Extremely long with a 7’3 wingspan … Crashes the offensive glass (2.1 offensive rebounds per game) … Is a factor as a shotblocker, evidenced by his 56 total blocks on the year … Dominates the rim against smaller frontlines … Versatile offensive player … Shoots well from three-point range (37%) for a player of his size … 76% FT shooter reinforces the idea that he can become a solid outside shooter at the next level … Finishes well in the paint and sticks with guards on the perimeter defensively … Climbed up the draft boards after averaging 21.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in Florida State’s first two NCAA tournament games against Vermont and Murray State, shooting 64% from the field … Was a defensive menace in the ACC tournament, recording 2.7 blocks per game against Virginia Tech, Virginia and Duke …
