2021 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Keon Johnson is such a god damn freak show. I can’t remember the last time I saw a Guard with as much pop and explosiveness, Ja included.

he’s so raw and he has a ton to learn but he just plays like outright hellfire and brimstone, and he’s already flashing an improved jumper compared to where he was at in HS. It’s not consistent, as with damn near everything else in his game except for the effort, but every game there’s that one or two moments, where he just leaves you with your jaw on the floor.

Hmm.. Suggs is more athletic on all facets to me.

Just noticed Efe Abogidi. Seems to have really good and athleticism for a PF, and he can shoot. Another potential sleeper?

Dunno.. I wouldn't pick a player with such name until I see someone with such similar name make it in the league. Can't beat the statistics. And according to my logic it may be never happen.

Idk, we're due for another Nigerian superstar

I don’t see that at all, especially not vertically. Johnson’s pop off one foot is far greater than Suggs, and I don’t think he gets higher off two feet either. As fast as Suggs is I don’t think he’s faster than Keon, certainly not without the ball.

Can't argue with one's vision. I will have to disagree here. No comparison for me.
I'd like to see Keon attempt a similar block like Suggs had against Iowa.

That's a nice block.

I find that more impressive sneaking from behind number 22 and then swatting that shit is not something you see very often. It's like if like a top running back was playing basketball.

Suggs combination of lateral quickness, top end speed, first step and hops just trounces Keon's. Keon may have a higher vertical, but no way does he have a better athletic package. You may see it differently, but that's how I see it. His athleticism is more functional to me.

This is probably true but there is a different type of functional athleticism that guys' possess with the ball in their hands.

Ala lets say like a Marcus Smart. Marcus Smart is insanely athletic, he can do things without the ball that are incredibly rare....but then you give him the ball and he's a good but not elite athlete. Maybe Keon proves to be a little different than that......he just strikes me more as a Marcus Smart type.

Suggs looks more like an athlete on par with Ja......who is just so damn athletic and gifted with the basketball as well. Those guys are just so hard to find.....players who can channel their athleticism on offense and defense, and specifically on offense with the ball in their hands.

Another quality game for him...his averages now stand at 10.3 points (.56/.45/.81 shooting), 9.1 boards, 0.5 assists, 0.9 steals, 2.1 blocks, 1.3 turnovers, and 2.8 fouls in a modest 23 minutes per game. Even with some modest regression he's likely to project as a capable shooter, a plus offensive rebounder, and a good multi-positional defender. Should be in the conversation for a first round pick at the very least.

Interesting story here...he was a top prospect as a young teenager, but suffered a horrific knee injury in the summer of 2017. He had three surgeries over the following three years, disappearing from all recruiting rankings in the process, until he finally began playing again in late 2019. Now his athleticism is beginning to come back, and he has a 3-point shot he developed while he was unable to play. Obviously the knee is still a source of concern, but if his body holds up he could be really good.
