As much as it pains me to say this, I wonder if Kobe would have considered the Nets job if approached. He was obviously very close with Kyrie. Their personnel would be perfect for a triangle type offense. I know Kobe loved to teach the game, though I'm not sure if he ever talked about coaching in the NBA.

I do think that this is why Nash ultimately succeeds though. He shares a similar level of basketball IQ and understanding the game and in many ways approached the game in similar ways mentally. Those Suns teams were always just one piece away, plus the obvious issue of Dantoni never being able to get them to play much D.

Butler and Giannis could be terrifying together. As much fun as Luka and Giannis would be to watch, I'd somewhat be more interested in watching how Butler's attitude and defensive approach would rub off on Giannis. Despite being DPOY, I still feel like he's only scratching the surface of what he can be defensively. Putting him with Butler and Spo would be interesting to watch.

Miami really has themselves in a crazy position yet again. They'd done a good job hitting on picks and acquiring and developing young talent. Next offseason, one where Giannis, AD, Kawhi, Paul George, LeBron, Oladipo, Gobert, Adams, and more are free agents, they're going to have Butler, Spo, a good young roster, space so sign two max-guys and a bit leftover. The thought that they could potentially put together 3 out of these 4 (Butler, Giannis, Kawhi, AD) is a bit absurd in terms of defensive potential.

As much as I don't like Riley, I have to give it to the guy. He won five titles as a head coach and he may actually be a better executive. That's sort of wild to even consider.
Jimmy Butler is a few days from turning 31. Not a wise business decision for Giannis, even with the excellent supporting cast.

Blake Griffin might also have been available given that he was traded just a few months later for Tobias Harris.

Also of course Chris Paul was traded shortly before the Kyrie trade.
Kyrie was traded 1st. If we had any inclination that cp3 was on the table we would have pulled that trigger and forced Lebron to walk away from his best friend.

Not sure anyone saw that coming. Which forced us to rebuild vs take a gamble on Kemba being enough to keep LBJ.

I think Billups would make a great coach

If Billups is coaching next, I'm going to guess it's in Sacramento. Dumars was hired as executive Vice-President of Basketball Operations and currently acting General Manager. I doubt Dumars would think twice about dumping Walton.

Billups already interviewed for front-office roles, so I'd imagine he'd want some level of control on roster decisions and draft picks. With the current setup in Sacramento with Dumars, they could effecively split the GM between them. It would be a home run given SAC's current roster and his relationship with Dumars.

He'd be a great fit with the Pelicans roster. He'd turn them into a top-level defensive team without question.

Kawhi Leonard's offensive game is a marvel. From a defensive player growing into a elite/efficient scoring weapon is amazing. His mid range is money and bordering jordanesque.

If by meaning that he lacks in assists, I agree!

Rockets are missing a little too many wide open 3’s. They have got to make those. Make it hard for LAL to get back in the game.

A "small" Miami team dominating a "tall" Bucks team. Goes to show how good coaching and a good shooting can overcome length. I am hopeful with the cavs roster. Slowly building into a good shooting team.

If the Rockets hit half of the open threes that they’ve missed so far they would be running away with this one.

Jimmy Butler is one of the rare superstars who outplays his own talent. Most superstars are freaks in terms of their natural talent -- Lebron, Kawhi, Durant, etc. -- and then maximize it. Butler is a scrappy guy with at most Joe Johnson level talent, maybe less than that TBH, who dominates through force of will.

Jimmy Butler is w/o a doubt in my mind a top 5 player.

His stats don't back that up. But his impact on winning and losing is absolutely right at the top with the very best.

He goes to Minnesota, they win 50. He leaves Minnesota, they're right back in the lottery.

Goes to Philly, and they're one awful bounce away from beating the Raptors in round 2. Leaves, and the Sixers get swept in round 1.

And now he goes to Miami and they look like legit Finals contenders.

Which brings me to this: Does AD at least THINK about leaving LA this year if the Lakers get bounced in round 2 and go to Miami?

Younger roster. Younger star player. Better shooting. Better coaching. Better front office. Less pressure to win.
