Everyone has some inherent racism Los. But hearing racial slurs while someone is online gaming is about as common as your trade ideas for Wiggins.

No.

Meyers Leonard went out of his way to tell everyone why he was the only person standing for anthem in the bubble. He did what a lot of people did which is super frustrating to me personally which was invoking a family member who's in the military as some excuse as to why he just couldn't kneel. He used a bullshit excuse that was full of hot air.

He even put out a statement on January 6th this season saying why he stands. he even said he stands against racism and all of that yet he is broadcasting live to the world and showing everyone his true colors.

And he didn't even use a common racial slur. He used a term that most people don't even know or have never even heard of and he used it forcefully. He even paused before he said it and now he's trying to pretend like he doesn't know what it means.

Bullshit. You don't put out all of those press releases telling everyone how patriotic you are and how you don't tolerate racism and all of that other shit and go out here and dig in you racist rolodex to pull out a word that is not even heavily used and then pretend like you had no idea what you were doing.

This has nothing to do with the culture of live streaming or video games and everything to do with a guy who is at his core a racist person but he wants you to believe that he's so oblivious to a term that has not even been heavily used and most people who are not from the WWII generation won't even know what it is.

Where the hell is Meyers Leonard hanging out where people are even using that word? That shit is from generations ago and he's not even 30 years old. The only people who even use that word use it in their vocabulary already. This was not a one off.

Growing up in small town middle America, he's going to have an inherent racist upbringing. Is he racist? Probably. Do I personally give a fuck? Not a chance. Mean words hurt. Everybody is upset about something.

It's really not unfair when it's the truth. It's a reality in small town Middle America and has been for years.

So racism is accepted as long as you're from a small town in middle America?

Must be tough on Meyers Leonard being from a small town in middle America and being on a $50M contract playing professionally in Miami. I can only imagine the agony he goes through in his daily life trying not to say racist things.

He must have it almost as bad as Papa John who's also from a small town in middle America and just can't seem to stop saying racist things.

No one said it was accepted. But it was certainly the acceptable norm for him growing up. I can't change an individual's racist thoughts or ways. I can certainly mock them for such views. Being that every Call of Duty match that I played for years almost always devolved into white guys shouting racial slurs and black kids shouting their own, it's much ado about nothing. I can remember the day I learned what porch monkey meant as a teen, and how often us 7-8 year old white kids in the suburbs called each other that.

Words hurt, but they aren't going away. I don't give credence to the idea that words inherently have power. I don't give a fuck that some white guy said kike while he was raging out playing CoD. I bet you certainly don't care to hear me yell expletives when I stub my toe or bust a knuckle. If I'm alone in the garage, I'll yell every word I can possibly think of.

But nope, we're going to go into a faux outrage, ruin the guys career and vilify him because that's what we do. Nothing will be changed, racist people aren't going to magically stop being racist. But that's okay, we stopped one more bad guy from saying bad words we can't handle.

Life is a fucking joke, learn to laugh at it all. You aren't making it out alive.

Just because both are common doesn't make either right, sensible, logical or ok.
No one said it was right, sensible, logical, or ok. I just don't give a fuck what someone yells while they're pissed off and frustrated. I care about physical harm being done. I don't care that someone is hurt because someone said mean words.

You're racist? Whatever, fuck you. You're racist and cause physical harm to people because of your racism, you deserve punishment.

I know it's not right to be racist. I just don't fucking care enough whether someone else is. That's not my problem.

Throwing around vulgar and crazy language is just part of gamer culture and most people who have played online games have said similar things. Meyers should've known better, and clearly had a moment where he sensed his brain wanting to do something he shouldn't do, but still went ahead with it for some unknown reason.

We are constantly taught to "accept" other people's cultures even if we don't agree with it. Why can't people accept gamer culture?

About a 9 on the tension scale in here, according to Mark Rumsfeld. I expect Leonard to be suspended for the rest of the season by the end of the day. The NBA put forth expectations in the players contract before the bubble started, which clearly states the elimination of hate speech from employees. Nobody forced Leonard to play online with a mic. He has to align with his contract, which would have paid him 9.4 million dollars. Those are a whole lot of reasons to clean up your language that most gamers don't have the privilege to accept.

I have no idea where he's heard the word, but if he's an avid game he has probably heard it before in a COD lobby. COD lobbies in the late 2000s, early 2010s weren't for the faint of heart. It's where I found out that a few thousand middle schoolers have screwed my mom.

I really like this response from Julian Edelman.

Because it's toxic as hell. If it were to reform a bit and get rid of old/incorrect wordage during chat speak then it would become acceptable.

With my friends I try my best to call out bullshit language that doesn't deserve to be in there. As should any gamer to make chats and conversations more acceptable.

The moralizing of American culture is hilarious. Getting so offended about language while their tax dollars get spent on things that literally cause insane amounts of damage and suffering across the globe and they can’t be bothered to even think about it.

Competition brings out the ugliest of people.

Jeremy fucking Lin complains about professional basketball players calling him Coronavirus on the court. Professional athletes can't get away from doing it. Why is the expectation that gamers should be able to?

They are words said during competition, a time when your base emotions are going to be stronger and closer to the surface. Any psychological advantage is still an advantage. If saying a mean word is enough to throw you off, that's on you, not I.

You can't homogenize and pasteurize the world. It's never going to fucking happen. We've got an entire generation convinced that their feelings matter. Self absorbed jackasses the whole lot of you.

Would you expect anything different from a country founded by overly religious zealots?

Wow, thanks for the reminder that I never want to meet any of you IRL.

If you need the psychological advantage of calling someone a racial slur while playing a video game, you definitely suck at the game and very likely suck as a human being.
