I see a lot of Lebron's 2nd go round with the Cavs in Lebron's current Lakers. I remember those Cavs teams smashing a lot of teams during the regular season and looking super dominant quite a bit, only to come up short against the 1 or 2 elite teams in the league that could stifle them defensively.

It seems that when the Lakers are at their best and dominant, theres lots of lobs, dunks, alleyoops, wow passes, and open threes knocked down. But much like those Cavs teams, once they play the best of the best, those easy flash plays and open shots go away and role players start to revert back to pumpkins.

So the question is, are the Lakers championship quality or more "regular season" great, when it's easier to lob up dunks and penetrate mediocre defense. .

Yea I don't understand. There was excatly one singular team that beat those Cavs teams and those first 3 years the Cavs basically dominated their way through the playoffs.

Ummmm, what? Cavaliers in Lebron's second go-round were "regular season lousy" and "playoff great" so I don't see the comparison at all. Maybe you mean Lebron's first go-round with the Cavs? That would actually be a better analogy.

The "worst post of 2020" bar has been set. I'm going to push all my chips in the middle of the table that it will remain that way 364 days from now.

Regardless of the comparison/analogy to the Cavs, I am curious whether posters here think that the way the Lakers play at their best (lots of easy baskets, dunks, streaky shooters getting hot etc) translates to the postseason as well as it does in the regular season.

Because against the Clippers, all of those easy points seem to not be there.

Those Cavs teams didn't lose a single series in 4 years to a non-Golden State team. They also had some all-time great offenses. They lost in 2015 because their second and third best players weren't playing. They beat the 73 win Warriors led by unanimous MVP Steph Curry in 2016, and then lost in 2017 and 2018 after the Warriors added Kevin Durant. So not really sure what you mean by "regular season great" about a team that went to the finals all four years and won a ring. In fact, the complaint back then was that LeBron and the Cavs didn't take the regular season seriously and were only fun to watch in the playoffs. Just seems like the newest way to discredit current LeBron and throw shade at him. Since the Lakers aren't flopping like people hoped/expected, the new thing is that they're only "regular season great."

I never expected the Lakers to flop, not with a dynamic duo like LBJ and AD. I've just found it interesting that they look amazing against every team except the Clips and Bucks so far, and against those teams they have seemed to really struggle. Even their stars have struggled in those games.

They also seem to blow a lot of leads against crap teams, thus forcing Bron to play a lot of minutes. Didnt that happen with the Cavs quite a bit as well? Always needing every minute of LBJ? Or am I remembering it wrong?

Michael Porter is starting to flash, which could change the complexion of the West for years as long as his back isn't borked.

Hey, have some faith. I've got the rest of the year to try and post something that disappoints you even deeper ;)

It did win him a few championships...

Play finisher is an under-used term for a good LeBron teammate. When you say pkay-finisher you describe in detail:

Wade/Kyrie
Bosh
AV
TT
Allen
Love/Z
Mo
Etc
Gibson

Davis is there right now. One of the best play finishers. Collin Sexton would actually play great with LeBron.

If this little Michael Porter Jr. run is the real deal and he's an immediate stud then...yea. I'm gonna need Koby to go hit a homerun real fast or see a new GM sooner rather than later.

I hate calling a guy's career this early but Cam Reddish is SO damn bad that it's almost impossible to imagine him ever being anything more than a damn near end of the bench player.

7th or 8th man looks like a ceiling if all goes right from here on out.

He's fucking dreadful.

Normally you can't point to one guy on the league's worst team and say "This is his fault." But you really can say that about Reddish.

He doesn't look like he has the talent to be on an NBA floor.

Looks like a journeyman overseas player.

I bet he eventually starts for a playoff team in the NBA. He is young, but has the physical tools and is playing a lot of rookie minutes..

No, he doesn't have the physical tools.

We'll disagree on that..
