2021 NBA PLAYOFFS MEGA THREAD

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Smh this zone again

I'll be honest AC I'm not seeing it.

They look best with Boban in the game.

They made their run at the start of the 3rd with Boban.

They're doing it again.

LAC need to make Kawhi the screen setter in the PnR and get him the ball where he wants it.

As I’ve said for years on this board, Ty Lue is a good playoff coach. Especially when it comes to maximizing offense and spacing, which is perfect for this Clippers squad that has so much team shooting. He’s also not afraid to bench guys and put out players who hadn’t been previously playing.

I do have to admit he did well at the end of this series. Benching Beverley was the right move. The units that have been out there tonight have been the right ones.

You’re not wrong. In that Boban is the one guy besides Luka who can punish a switch. Or make a play on the short roll if Luka is trapped. And it seems the Mavs are only comfortable playing a zone when Boban is out there - probably because he is so slow. But I still think the amount of wide open threes that the Clippers get as a result is a net negative. The Clippers haven’t taken a contested three all game long. These are practice shots.

Mavs have shot horribly from three and missed a ton of wide open shots. Feel bad for Luka.

DAL gonna trade for Al Horford in the offseason

Also for the record I think Carlisle is a really great coach. Top five in the league in my opinion. And he has the less talented team by a lot in this series. But that’s all the more reason that he can’t afford to make avoidable mistakes on the margins.

But I felt that was the case with the other guys playing C too.

I've been saying Luka is the best offensive player in the NBA.

But a lot of the defensive breakdowns involve him. He has to be better there.

Reggie Jackson has been the difference.

That was Hardaway the first two games. Now it isn't.

Ty Lue came out to the Game 2 post game press conference unbothered, calm, cool, collected. Would not take the bait from any of the reporters who were asking questions about panic or how they can bounce back. He knew the guys he had in his locker room and knew they were capable of this.

I agree with Luka’s shortcomings on defense and that he’s the best offensive player right now.

As for the zone, especially in the first half the Clippers would just overload one side of the zone and pass the ball around until one guy was wide open as the Mavericks’ fifth guy (Boban) would be camping out in the paint as the middle guy in the 2-3 zone. It’s rare you even see 2-3 zones in the NBA (3-2 is way more common) because it’s so easy to generate threes against it. This Clippers team is probably the single worst team to try it against, especially when they have no traditional center. Everyone on the floor can hit threes. They led the NBA in three point percentage as a team.

Mavs missed so many open 3s.

Rough one to lose.

Reggie Jackson
Terrence Mann (bench)
Luke Kennard (bench)
Marcus Morris

All had HUGE games.

And once again, the team that won the 3P game within a game(Clips 20-43, Mavs 10-36) wins the Game

If Doncic's teammates shoot 10/25 from 3 instead of 5/25, Mavs win and everyone's talking about how Doncic is the best player in the league :chuckle:

It's just the way the game is now.

Feels like these series could just flip on a hat based on which role players make 3s.
