These teams give Giannis sooo much space and his counter to that is to just drive into two waiting men.

He should happily take up all of that space and put these little dudes on his back starting a foot inside the paint where they're waiting on him.

He needs to start thinking of himself as a modern day shaq type of player. If they're just gonna freely let him post up that deep with no contest, he needs to do it.

Once he becomes proficient playing like that, they'll start guarding him farther out and he can face them up again.
 
You know why Jason Kidd would be a great option to replace Bud?

Giannis loves him for one and Jason Kidd would know exactly what to do to maximize Giannis game.

Giannis needs to run an offense similar to what Carlise ran for Dirk. Jason Kidd was the PG on that championship team so he would know exactly what to do.

Now does this mean that Giannis should be shooting 3's like Dirk? No.

What it means is Giannis needs to primarily operate at the elbow and mid post just like Dirk. Giannis needs to put defenders on his back and get easy shots. He has the length to shoot over defenders just like Dirk. He has the length and skills to get all the way to the rim with one dribble from the mid post elbow area. He's smart enough to hit open shooters from there when he gets doubled too.

When Kidd was there they didn't have a PG as good as Jrue Holiday. Giannis won't have to create offense as much as he did before. They can get him the ball in that sweet spot and then let him go to work.

That's what his game should be. he should not be creating offense from the 3 point line and the majority of his points shouldn't come from him putting his head down and going downhill from the 3 point line. He can still do that sometimes so he doesn't have to completely eliminate that part of his game but his main focus should be dominating that mid post area.

I was just engaging with my pops about this.

Bud is stubborn and wont do it, but he should totally start Giannis at the 5 and play 4 out with the other starters. Get on the offensive and make Brooklyn adjust to what you can do.

They simply dont use Brook Lopez inside enough to justify him compromising the defense on the other end.

They can play Lopez and Portis together and I would split minutes between PJ Tucker and Portis all game.

Lopez, Portis, Forbes, and Teague should be the only bench players getting minutes.

I'm not an NBA coach nor am I the smartest basketball mind but why isn't Bud doing this? Why are you playing Brook Lopez 30 minutes when Nash is only playing Claxton 15? You don't have to take Lopez out of the rotation but there's no reason to be playing that big. You're size and rebounding advantage is neutralized by BKN's shooting. They are getting open looks whenever they want them.

Run the offense through Giannis at the elbow and let him find the shooters. Giannis should be the only player on that team who even initiates offense from a post up.

You don't even need to make Giannis guard KD the whole game. Let Middleton start on KD and hide Giannis on Blake until the 4th quarter when he can switch to KD.

MIL won't get swept. I think they'll probably win game 3 but this lineup change needs to happen now.

Ty Lue is a lot of things, but he was willing to excise Frye from the lineup and limit Love in favor of Jamison to get it done.

Bud has no ability to recognize mimatches. He just says, "we can punish them for going small". When in reality, Brown and Harris are going to torch you for leaving Brook in the paint. They may cool off from 3, but I have seen Bud team get torched from 3 in how many series?

I'd run an 8 man rotation. Give Forbes more time and just leave Teague out of it. They have to do something to make Brooklyn work though. If they let them just run up the score without challenging them on defense they are cooked.

Bring Brook off the bench for 15-20 when Durant or Kyrie go out and create some mismatches on offense when Gianis or someone else needs a rest but your defense doesnt suffer for 30+ minutes.

I think its pretty obvious. But hey, what do I know?

I don't know if they're doing the Kidd experiment again @Los216 but I think they've reached their peak with Bud who is a regular season coach.

Giannis stuff at the top of the key needs to stop especially that three point attempts or Bud needs to be fired mid-series. Brooke Lopez needs to be utilized near the basket offensively against a team that struggles with interior defense or he needs to be on the bench. Khris needs to get it going, he's so out of form it's crazy compared to how he played against Miami. His bad shots that usually go in aren't going in lol.

Lopez is a regular season dude to take the wear and tear off of Giannis.

But w/o a doubt Giannis would be best served late in the postseason playing center.

But they won't do it.
