With all this talk about Zimmer being a 4th outfielder, first of all you need to find a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd outfielder before he makes sense to play that role. We have not done that.

Straw has center on lockdown... At least for now... The other 2 spots - yup it's Hunger Games time for Zimmer, Mercado, Johnson, Ramirez, Naylor...

Edit. Expect a ringer to be brought in to force the issue... District 2.

Yeah Zimmer is leading that pack at the moment. He's our 2nd outfielder as it stands today. If we want to change that to start 2022, we probably need to sign two more players, which doesn't really make any sense anyway.

I could also see some scenario where we play Amed every day but slot him in and out of 2B and corner OF based on who is starting. Either Amed OF Miller 2B vs LHP, or Amed 2B Zimmer OF vs RHP.

Still holding out hope Zimmer is a late bloomer and will finally stay healthy. His tools are mesmerizing

Lindor didn't until the pros....don't forget Zimmer is a big guy so the possibility isn't actually that unheard of. He was an athlete not a baseball player first, so if he improved his mechanics (which Bimbo said he has) it's very possible power will show with good swings..

When he hits the ball square it's going a long way. If only he did it more but even if he can K around 30% of the time I think he will be fine.

Francona doesn't mind platooning so you could see a platoon... Zimmer, Straw and Naylor with Reyes and Mercado as the next OF with a guy like Clement/Miller that can play out there as well? That would be kind of the current roster without a move...

I am for getting a legit LF/RF but who is out there?
