2021 Season | Series #46 | Indians @ Yankees | Sep. 17-19

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Outside of Jose, I wonder how many Tribe players Yankee fans have ever heard of?

Pretty impressive weekend for the Featherheads..

It's easy to see that the NYY's just do not have a bullpen they can count on.. or starting pitching.. and their offense is home run or bust.. This series will go a LONG way in sending the Yankees home in early October. With a dozen or so games remaining.. they're going to need a LOT of help..

..what they wouldn't give up for a chance to get a guy like JRam?.. damn near anything.. but..

This has to be the most surprising win of the year and one of the most satisfying. It looked to me that the Indians were mailing this one in, figuring they had zero chance of winning a Cole v. Morgan matchup. With a double-header tomorrow they gave Straw and Reyes the day off. Amed Rosario is on bereavement leave, so the Indians were missing three of their top four hitters.

Their starting lineup featured six players who were playing in Columbus at some point this season and I'm not counting rehab.

So they kick Cole's butt 11-1 as Eli thoroughly outpitches him. No way I saw this coming.

The Yankee announcers before the game were talking about Cole's Cy Young chances and how it was a two-horse race in their opinion that could come down to the last few starts. They talked like there was no question he would easily dominate the Indians. Oops.

Harold Ramirez had 4 RBI's on two of the weakest hits I've ever seen. The Indians had a few perfectly placed hits, but that's what you need against Cole. He didn't have his best stuff and the Indians had some luckly bloops and ground balls that found holes. We'll take it.

Chang had three hits and continues to produce in the second half. Josie had an insane day going 4-for-4 with a walk. Just a great day all around in the final meeting between the Cleveland Indians and the New York Yankees. These teams have been playing each other since Ruth was on the Red Sox, but it will be Yankees-Guardians next time they meet.

Thats a very hard play to make up against the RF wall, and Harold had no chance. But a good RFer might...and a very good one should.
yep - plus a very good rf wouldnt have hurt hit shoulder running into the wall

very satisfying weekend - esp after last weekend -- with games left v kc and the white sox (hopefully theyre taking a rest and getting ready for the playoffs) we've got a good chance at a winning record

Granted, I wasn't able to watch much of today's action with the Browns game being on at the same time, but what a freaking win. Regardless of the circumstances, it's a beautiful thing to stick it to the Yankees, and winning two of three in the Bronx especially after getting dick slapped on Friday night is a laudable achievement. Hopefully, this will be the catalyst to finish the rest of the season strong and keep the consecutive winning season streak alive.

Lets look at the White Sox and their great offense.

They have given up 4 runs or less 87 times. They are 66-21 (81%)

They have given up more than 4 runs in 60 games. They are 18-42 (30%)

Which has been more important to their success...scoring or run suppression?

Obviously, the FO needs to improve our offense. But it isn't the biggest problem we had this year.

The biggest problem was injuries to our pitching staff, mostly the rotation. And that problem is solved by health.

Next year WE will have the elite pitching.
Which makes improving this team a much easier task. We don't need the best offense in the league, just a decent one with this pitching staff.

Exactly.

With a healthy rotation, this team as presently constructed is a 90 win team.

We will end up close to .500 this season.

Does anybody really think full seasons from Beiber, Civale, and Plesac wouldn't be worth eight more wins? Does anybody really think that Quantrill in the rotation for an entire season wouldn't be worth two or three?

Does anybody really think the FO is gonna sit on all these prospects and not move some to improve the offense?

There are questions, sure.

Do you think Bradley for 500 PAs will be an improvement over beginning the season with Bauers?

Do you think Straw for a whole season will be better than the mishmash of Gamel-Luplow-Harold in center for the first half?

Do you think having Franmil for a whole season will be an improvement?

This team is already improved for next season...and there will be more to come.

Throw a Reynolds/Marte type in the two hole... I think we get the offense that we need and with the arm talent we have, it will be hard for the White Soxs to beat us in 22/23 unless they get some younger legit SP talent...
