2021 Series #16 | Blue Jays @ Indians | May 28-30

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I mean, we haven’t won a World Series since 1948... let’s not carried away lol
It was a gift and I'll take it like the pajamas my Grandma gave me at Xmas and say thank you. Lol.

I'm not sure why fans keep thinking he's an option.

I think he proved that he's not a major league talent.

We're not even a third of the way into the season--if you DFA Bauers, and Bradley continues to be even worse than him, what do you do then?

I think the only reason Bauers is still playing is that, if you want to win a ballgame today, having him at first and Naylor in right has been better than putting Naylor at first and someone like Johnson in the OF to fill Naylor's spot.

Ideally, I'd still like to see a different SS. Owen, Arias, Gimenez--I don't really care who. Amed in the OF, Naylor at 1B... but apparently my wishes are misguided.
Fans think hes still an option because we've suffered through Bauers for going on 2 1/2 years now and would like to see Bradley at least given the chance to fail before we write him off. If they can give Bauers all these ABs to look as disinterested as Kevin Love at a Cavs game then they can give Bradley 50-100 to sink or swim.

Nothing wrong with the Indians offense that an error and four consecutive walks won't cure. I don't know why everybody is panicking.

Tribe outscored 20-9 in the series. It was like watching a AAA team against a major league team. The Tribe defense was pretty bad.

Hentges isn't ready for this yet. I'd give the ball to Mejia. Five innings, 1 hit, no runs, 1 walk, 7 K's. The guy changes speeds and locations and he hits the corners, doesn't walk hitters, and stays out of the middle of the zone. So far the results speak for themselves.

Never bring in your closer in the last inning with the score tied - he'll give it up every time. Remember Cody Allen? Every time they brought him in with the score tied in the top or bottom of the 9th he gave up the winning run. But put him in a save situation and he was great. Looks like Clase is the same way.

Despite the fact that he has a 1.19 ERA, I don’t think he is a closer

Toronto manager was brain dead.

Our defense is pathetic. Half our offense is worse than pathetic.

It takes more than a lousy MLB player to get a call up. The prospect has to earn a spot. Striking out a third of the time in AAA over three years isn't earning anything.

Mejia should get a shot at starting once the rotation is reset. I might even consider using him as an opener on Wednesday, and hope to get three innings out of him. I haven't figured out yet how he fell behind Morgan in the pecking order.

To answer the question in bold: injuries suffered by JC Mejia. Like it or not, the ability to be healthy & answer the bell when called upon accounts for a lot..

Yes indeed staying healthy counts a lot. Right now Mejia is healthy. Cats has a good point. No reason Mejia doesn't get the ball as a starter. Do not want to see Hentges, Allen or eEi in the foreseeable future. Q can make up the fifth starter.

Eli needs to get another start... Those were horrible pitching conditions. Let's see his adjustments before we write him off...I cannot though disagree with Mejia getting some starts, but is he stretched out enough?

..being/remaining healthy is a skill.. partially due to being lucky.. also, learned to a degree..

I agree on the health issue....Mejia has a less than stellar history with health.

But he is healthy now...healthy enough to be in the regular rotation in Columbus, throwing 76-77 pitches per start. Might as well throw those pitches in Cleveland while we have the need.

Obviously, he can't take a full load for the rest of the season, but he should be good for six or so starts before backing him off.

He might not be any good as a starter in Cleveland, but the only way to know.....

And its not like we have a bunch of hot options right now.

I dont agree that staying healthy is a skill. There is training that can be done to minimize the chances of injury, but a body that is injury prone is injury prone.

We've seen our share of those.

Seems like the injury bug makes its rounds and nobody has a magic elixir to avoid them.
