2021 Trade Ideas and Deadline talk!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm not sure I would give up Miller plus other prospects for Olson honestly at this point, but if we do make a trade it will come from our minor league arms and MIF more than likely....
Here's how I'd kind of sort our system... and granted, this is purely for me..

Untouchables (or unless it's reeeeally the right price):
Tyler Freeman
George Valera
Gabriel Arias
Daniel Espino
Ethan Hankins
Owen Miller

Touchables:
Nolan Jones
Bo Naylor
Brayan Rocchio
Aaron Bracho
Josh Wolf
Bobby Bradley
Daniel Johnson

Can go either way:
Lenny Torres
Carson Tucker
Tanner Burns

No trades. Just put Owen Miller at SS, Amed Rosario in center, Harold Ramirez in right, and Josh Naylor at first base. I might want to put Luplow in center rather than Amed since Luplow has been more productive in fewer at-bats, but I like the way Amed has been swinging the bat lately.

From cleveland.com this morning:

[Owen] Miller has played 124 games at short in the minors, compared to 50 at second and 20 at third. - Pluto, 5/15/21

Chris Antonetti, president of baseball operations, said recently that they’ve re-introduced Miller to shortstop along with playing the other infield positions. - Hoynes, 5/16/21

Hmmm......

Hmmm......

Millers range doesn't compare to Gimenez's, Arias, Freeman, Clement etc... he doesn't make errors there but he isn't a SS in the pros on a normal roster...

Pretty good breakdown. Personally I would add Valera to the "touchable" list, especially if the target is a controllable ML OFer.

Pretty much the 3 I am hanging onto no matter what are:
T.Freeman
O.Miller
D.Espino

Not a bad idea Wham. I'd do this ASAP that way any holes could still be addressed at the deadline, or attempted to address. The one thing in your post that caught my eye for a lack of a better description was the mention of Luplow. I've been a fan, and he's certainly done some good things in the clutch, but his overall performance is lackluster.

I wonder if Cleveland could reacquire Gomes? He's still good defensively and is hitting really well. That could address our offensive black hole at C. I think it would resonate well with the fanbase too, but that's merely speculation on my part. The Nationals would probably like to have a decent MIF prospect.

Valera is untouchable in my book with his potential and our constant need for OF. Use our depth in pitching and middle infield to get the MLB OF.

Why is this guy untouchable, I understand he broke a bone in his hand and his rookie ball year....but I’m still not seeing the next great prospect, I’m hope I’m wrong , we need a budding superstar in the outfield in the worst way.......That why I’m still holding out for Benson.....

George Valera is definitely a top prospect, around the 50th best one in baseball. He is available in the right trade though and despite his prospect status his SSS isn't amazing. Might be a sell high guy, that's all I am saying.

I can't agree with you on this one. We have enough good MIF to choke a horse, and Valera is about the only top OF prospect. What could we trade him for? Another good OF prospect. Sometimes we just need patience.

Trade for a controllable ML OFer..

I am not saying "trade him, trade him now!" but if his inclusion is required, it could happen with the right deal. His track record/status doesn't merit "untouchable status", IMO despite not having a ton of OF prospects of note.

Him, Jones and two pitching prospects for Ketel Marte...?
