We all know at the moment it's not him...

Morris would be nasty in a role like that though...
I don't know that it's not him. I check out on baseball from the end of the season until the start. So it's possible I missed this.

So you're saying it's definitely not Espino? Then who is it? These aren't rhetorical questions. I don't know the answers to them.

IMHO, Lenny Torres and Carlos Vargas are BOTH destined for the pen.. Morris, to me, is one more health issue from having his path to an MLB bullpen being his destiny.. His stuff is so good that the CleFO braintrust needs to give him at least one more and possibly two more chances to become a starter at the MLB level..

Reading the tea leaves..that's three current starters in the MiLB that could be/should become RP's at the highest level of baseball.. plenty of depth, I.O.W...

Edit: I should add that none of these three guys should be considered permanently relievers with the way MLB is going.. MLB teams have come to realize throwing 100 mph is more than possible.. and throwing that hard gives a pitcher a much larger margin of error in being effective... but, not for 100 plus pitches per outing.. that elbow won't last.. Maybe, 80 pitches will become the new "standard" for starting.. This brings the advent of piggybacking an opener as a more prevalent means of operating..

First off usually the guys who end up as relievers in the Guardians system, are drafted as relievers or struggle because of command, lacking a legit third pitch and/or injury history.

Espino doesn't fit that at all...

It's Carlos Vargas. That should be obvious.

Will be down to only 1 option left once he comes off the 60 day.

Do you see any guys who can contribute now not on the 40 man roster say a Clase goes down?

@BimboColesHair

I have a really strange question, until Maile gets back, do you see Lavastida working with any pitcher during a day game, or will he stick to like Civale who he caught twice in spring?

75k? They might not pull that for the entire homestand.

It be nice if we get that in a week... That was a huge baseball stadium though... We only can seats 35K now...

He has performed better as a starter and has the stuff to be very effective which is evident in his SO rates. His issue is control and he has an option or options. Can't help but wonder if there isn't going to be some room created on the 28 man roster soon.
They acquired a slightly older JC Mejia.

I don't think Mejia and Castro are very similar except that they are both fringe prospects. Mejia is certainly a 2 pitch pitcher more suited for the BP.

So is Castro, whose 27 and other than another catastrophic rash of injuries will never be used as a starter here. 2- pitch, 3- pitch... Zack Jackson had 4 pitches but still sucked. I can't imagine this guy lasts long on the 40 man.

I like the way the outfield is shaping up with Rosario (on non-windy days), Straw, and Kwan. I'm mildly optimistic they will get league average production or close to it from some combination of Naylor, Chang, and Bradley at first base.

What about the middle infield? Plenty of options, but will anybody hit? Could we see Arias and Freeman in the second half if Chang, Miller, Gimenez and Clement can't hit? Or will they trade for an outfielder and move Amed back to short?

Or an outfield of Naylor, Straw and Kwan with Amed at short and Bradley/Chang/Miller at first?

I feel like this whole season will be one long series of auditions.

Bieber looked very impressive despite missing a couple of mph's off his fastball.

Last year as a reliever Mejia gave up 6 hits in 34 AB's (.176), 2 walks and 11 K's. His OPS as a reliever was .575. Yeah, it was only 36 plate appearances but I wish we could have kept him. All the injuries to the starters forced him into the rotation where he clearly did not belong (.967 OPS).
