2022 First Entry Draft.. A hitters paradise !!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If I am guessing as of today:

It will be one of Jett Williams, Chase DeLauter, Justin Crawford, Jace Jung if he falls, or an outside chance of Cole Young.

Seems most likely they are going position player in the 1st. They love Jett Williams is what I have heard.

I can see the appeal with Jett Williams, but there's some Ernie Clement risk or Oakland's Nick Allen.

I like Delauter and would probably prefer him of the 3, highest floor, but some Mike Papi risk too.

Crawford is a bit name hyped imo and some boom/bust. I'd let someone else find out.

Jace Jung is ma dream scenario.

I've heard they're looking into prep arms at 37, can you confirm?

Honestly?

I think Atlanta's move today was to get ahead of Cleveland at 37 to take a prep arm.

I guess there are already some discussions with those prep arms and their price tags, but I hope they have more than one they like and they sure have contingency plans if indeed Atlanta nabs their target.

Kinda like Owen Murphy, even though he's older. Dream scenario is if they can float one of Snelling/Barriera to 37

Said in here a month or so ago, I know they like Murphy and have seen him. His name has been mentioned tied to Cleveland for a good bit for that reason. They certainly have more than one they like.

Think Atlanta wants Jacob Miller. Probably felt 20 is too rich for him but 35 right in front of Cleveland is a safe bet.

The Ohio kid, makes sense.

I've heard others, but would gladly "settle" for O. Murphy or go the college route with Harrington or Campbell, probably depends what they do at 16, looking to alternate HS/college (and timelines). If they go Jett Williams, I'd guess college arm, if it's Delauter then prep arm.

might be prep, two way.. Mule..

Any chance we roll the dice on GAS MAN EXTREME Ben Joyce? Could help the bullpen ASAP would think. The pitching factory could also turn him into an ELITE STUD.

90 GRADE FASTBALL
105
NOW THAT'S GAS

Have we shown any legit interest? @Gson @BimboColesHair

Cooper Hjerpe sounds like an interesting pick, but I can see him really struggling against hitting prospects like Bobby Jo Valtrex, Jhonny Zamvir, and Zonder Zovirax.

this guy is the epitome of a thrower versus a pitcher.. he's the former.. for teams that see the gas and think this guy is the latter..he's first / early round(s) talent.. for teams like the Guardians.. he's worthy of selecting if he's there in their third or fourth pick of the draft... maybe later..

His competition & health history.. isn't so good, btw..

Joyce reminds me of Zack Burdi coming out of Louisville.

From the unorthodox mechanics, to the high effort 3/4 pulldown on their fastballs, to the inconsistency with control at an alarmingly frequent rate. Burdi is flaming out because of injuries, Joyce is on the path to do the same. Shoulder, Tommy John, and growth plate issues over the last 3 years alone.

Both always pitch or pitched on multiple days rest so they don't give you much for innings, but unlike Burdi Joyce isn't used in high leverage situations.

I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole in the first 10 rounds, let alone the first 5.

Thanks. Not what I wanted to hear, but appreciated regardless.

Help me with finding identifying the flaw in this particular line of logic. Guards are best in the business at developing pitchers. Joyce has at least one of the best tools in the business. Guards + Joyce = great pitcher.

I mean if we can churn out STUDS from guys like Civale, Plesac, Bibee, etc., what would happen if we gave the org some clay to work w like this guy?

No pitching development group can develop health.

See - Brady Aiken.

You can tweak things here and there to help alleviate injuries down the line mechanically, but his entire repertoire down to his most basic mechanics and arm slot needs changed if he ever wants to stay healthy and pitch frequently like MLB relievers do nowadays. And at that point, changing so much, you risk the player losing what makes them special in the first place, i.e. unteachable velo or movement.

Want no part of Joyce and have zero fear our FO would draft him.

Concentrate on the Bibee, Leftwich, Boone, Sharpe, Denholm types

This draft's versions are Rajcic, Hansen, A. Taylor, J. Brooks, D. Thorpe, A. Morris, Savino, Messick, Hubbart, Barco, Dombroski, Villaman, R. Ramsey
