2022 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Straw isn’t going anywhere, but how do they get some of these guys opportunities? I’m not arguing that any prospect would or wouldn’t be a better option. The question is how do they find out? I don’t want to watch any prospect produce better for another team than what this organization chose to keep. That is a distinct possibility in the case of Myles Straw.

In my attempt to be realistic I don’t think Myles is as bad as he is performing right now nor as good as he was in the 2nd half of last season. What gives.
Spots tend to open. OGonz goes to IL, Jones gets his chance to show what he has. Pretty sure Rosario will be opening a spot for a MI prospect here soon.

Fair points, but how are Clement and Miller playing on borrowed time and not Straw? What happens to Jones when OGon returns? There’s going to be some very difficult decisions to make soon.

Please don’t lump me in with those poo pooing the FO. I love where this organization is headed and the talent that it has accrued. Whatever happens we’re in a very good place to have a sustained run.

I don't think any of three are on borrowed time with the 40 man just yet, but I could see one or both of Miller/Clement being sent down to AAA...

We have our OF promotion from Columbus in the wake of the Mercado DFA. And it's............. Alex Call.

Super. I know coach was touting him a few weeks ago as deserving. Seems like he was correct. The return for Guards legend Yonder Alonso. 27 years old. Yippee.

I’m not saying I disagree with sending them down. My question is how do you justify that while Straw is performing to woefully?

I will say that Clement and Miller could be on borrowed time. If another player/prospect runs with the opportunity then they’ll be extremely difficult to unseat. It’s going to be very competitive for the remainder of the 22 season and we’ll into next.

I hate to say it, but for now Straw has almost everyday ABs, and we are hoping he gets out of his funk...

I agree it will be competitive but most of the INFs outside of Martinez (and maybe Fermin) are on the 40 man... hence why I think Tena is one his way out, but that's a different matter.

The next group is more pitching and OFs, so we gotta do more shuffling to keep everyone (I think we will do a 4 for 1)

Makes sense, but we’ll see. The deadline can’t come and go fast enough for me.

For borrowed time, I mean at their current level. I can easily see a shuffle with a few players to the minors and trying new pieces\moving to new roles at the MLB level, like Miller to utility.

Straw 1.3 WAR
Clement -0.3 WAR
Miller 0.1 WAR

Call is being used as the 4th OF not as a main guy... Benson didn't get chosen because he bats left handed. Call deserves a big league chance and having Call over Mercado keep the roster more flexible since Call has options...

Gavin Williams will be a top 50 prospect in baseball this time next year.

High-A hitters have no chance.

Obviously some luxury being able to see him outside of games last year and before his debut, but still going out on a bit of a limb before he threw a single professional pitch.

Today he is Baseball America's #42 overall prospect. So I was wrong. 3.5 months is all it took for him to be a top 50 prospect in baseball.

If it wasn't for Straw,,,our record would be better than the Yankees!

Please people. Plenty of problems on this team. But a GG CF who is having a slump, or maybe even a bad season, isn't the root of the problem. BTW, I think he had 6 hits this weekend. So don't blame him for losing to the Royals.

Hell, I remember a guy named Jose that had a bad slump a few years ago. Or maybe that was just the playoffs.

I am really excited about this guy. What would you say he's shown so far this year that maybe the expert prospect evaluators or even those within the org were pleasantly surprised by? Can you compare him to EspinGOAT?

Something fun and mostly meaningless.

The ACL Guardians currently have 4 switch-hitting teenagers with an OPS higher than .800.

Juan Benjamin (19) - IF - .322/.474/.525 in 78 PAs
Maick Collado (19) - 1B/3B - .347/.468/.490 in 62 PAs
Angel Genao (19) - SS/2B - .354/.429/494 in 92 PAs (best prospect on this team)
Manuel Mejias (18) - C - .302/.403/.434 in 62 PAs

Combined those 4 have walked 45 times and K'd 49 times.
