2022 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That HR into the roller coaster has me thinking that should totally be a thing at some ballparks. We say kids aren't getting into baseball?
I'm pretty much a stat scout myself, but try to seek out as much info as I can on the guys I really like...

Which led me to this. Not sure who runs this YouTube channel, but they just posted a lot of vids recently of various MILB Guardians in action for those who are interested.

Future Guardians of THE LAND

FWIW - I suggest watching the Steven Kwan vid... I can't believe I am saying this, but the HR power looks pretty legit to me. He crushed a few of those.

Sleepers I'll expand on later.

Hankins, Torres, Jorge Burgos, Richard Paz, Jake Fox, Aaron Davenport, Angel Contreras, Robert Lopez. Just going to stop at 8.

Also the 22 & 23 international signing classes are going to be the 2 most talented groups they've ever brought in, top to bottom. Jaison Chourio and Welbyn Francisca are the 2 big boys, but there is a lot of talent coming in those classes in the OF and MIF.
How about Victor Izturiz?... well rounded skills and pedigree.. eats sleeps and lives baseball... ?

Lenny Torres as a starter?. or high leverage RP?.. he is a drop and driver that knows how to pitch.. is he healthy?..all the way back from surgery.. imho, upon being drafted.. he could have been Karinchak with the control of his high spin rates and two plus pitches (FB and Slider)?

Sad news to share...

Guardians Prospective

Incredibly said news to report tonight. #Guardians 20yr old (C) prospect Andres Melendez has passed away. Melendez born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela came over to Cleveland in a trade for INF Mark Mathias in 2019. He spent the entire 2021 season with (Low-A) Lynchburg.

Here's an odd and somewhat long video of Steven Kwan talking about his life/playing baseball while getting a haircut.. It's a little old (2/21), but found it enjoyable. Lots of pictures and insight on what he feels is important and the experience of it all. Guardian stuff is towards the end obviously. He does talk about having to face Zach Plesac as a college freshman early on in the vid though... Give it a shot/listen.

Sorry if this has been posted already, if so I owe you a hat tip.

They got any other Guardians players?

thanks for posting.. level headed, intelligent young man.. hope he has a chance here.. if not..somewhere..

I like Kwan's attitude. I think he will do the best to max out whatever he has, which may not be a whole lot, but more than Ernie Clement. When he crushes a HR he still sprints out of the box.

Top 10 listed out with write-ups.

I know there are fans out there with much love for Brayan Rocchio.. This listing has Rocchio at #1 for the CLE system.
I'm not sure what "for 2022 fantasy baseball" means when they have guys that they ETA for 2023 on the list. Dynasty leagues? I really don't see Noel making any kind of impact in 2022. I'm prepared to be wrong though.

Yeah - IDK know what these "fantasy" style rankings are, I assume they are for Dynasty leagues too.

I don't expect Noel to make it all the way to show in 2022, but starting at AA isn't a massive stretch and becoming one of the premier power hitting corner bats in all the minors is possible. Heck, he even has a chance to become the best power hitting prospects in all the minors. Intriguing guy..

Expect aggressive moves with the young, lower level catchers this year: Paz, Lopez, Ramirez specifically.

Especially if both Lavastida and Naylor start in Columbus.
I have to wonder if the unfortunate loss of Andres M will also spur some aggressive moment. Assuming he wasn’t selected in the R5, he might have gotten a move up to AA..

If here he would have got at-bats/ innings behind the plate somewhere. Now that time is available for others to use.

Current prospects, 6 through 12.

Like others I think our 5 top is pretty much the same on my most lists just mixed up a little bit. Common early thoughts seem to indicate Rocchio is our top SS prospect..

My top 5:
1. Espino
2. Freeman
3. Rocchio - It is close to coinflip between Tyler and Brayan at this point for me. Both offer significant ML potential.
4. Valera
5. Arias

Next 7 - this is a lot more "what you like" - many deserving candidates, Jones and Williams should definitely be in the mix.

6. Williams - Seems like a good spot for someone I know almost nothing about.
7. Jones - maybe it's prospect fatigue. Lots of raw material here. Still.
8. Noel - Potential to become a top offensive player, If he hits the ground running in 2022 - lookout.
9. Morris
10. Palacios -He was top ten material or close to it in 2019 for me, college draft/missed time means its time to do something. I like his chances.
11. Tena
12. L. Allen - last edit.

Final note - Of these 12 only 3 are NOT on the 40 man......

List goes to 13 along with others noted/ discussed

The State of the System: Cleveland can only play one shortstop per game, which might pose an issue for a system this deep in middle infielders. It’s deep generally, too.
