2022 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
OK. So far Espino, Williams, Cantillo and Bibee have been incredibly impressive. Allen, Battenfield and Curry have been real solid to outstanding as well. Prior to getting hurt, Burns was about as impressive as anyone. We all know what kind of pitcher Morris is.

Thing is, outside of Bibee they are all in the top 2 minor league levels and I don't expect Bibee not be very long. With none of our current rotation members reaching FA until 2025 at the earliest(Bieber) something will have to give. I know we've discussed this numerous times, but it never ceases to impress me.
Gaddis ?

Tweet from Justin Lada....

RHP Luis Oviedo cleared waivers for Cleveland.
He remains in Akron for the Guardians.
Cleveland gets to keep Oviedo, whom they signed as an international FA, lost in the 2020 R5 draft and then claimed off waivers earlier this year from Pittsburgh .

Battenfield with another good outing today reducing his ERA to 2.37. His SO9 numbers are still way down and his BB9 way up from his previous years. I wonder if there is an explanation or just happenstance.

There was a mention of the obvious disenchantment with Tyler O'Neil in St Louis earlier in the week.. His start make Franmill look good...
Wow, how is that even possible?

I know MLBPipeline is frowned upon but they updated their Top 100 today and Daniel Espino came in at 11th overall.

Five Guardians total made the list:

11. Daniel Espino
43. George Valera
69. Gabriel Arias
78. Brayan Rocchio
80. Tyler Freeman

Seems decent excepting for the fact that they are way behind the curve on Gavin Williams.

O'Neill raised expectations in 2021.. and hasn't delivered in 2022. Being on the interstate may be as a result of some unknown injury or adjustments made by pitchers.. If I were to guess.. an undisclosed injury would be the culprit, but, I don't have evidence to support that conclusion..

I'd dangle Arias in trade talks, if that's his trade value. Gimenez is the SS for the foreseeable future, Jose at 3B, plenty of guys for 2B (Miller, Freeman, Rocchio) and even more for Util.

My sentiments exactly. I'd have him somewhere between Espino and Valera.

I would too Tondo only because I think he has the best chance to struggle offensively. It could be a regrettable trade though.

Lets take the "snub" of Gavin Williams as a good thing/ silver lining.

Plenty of top 100 prospects fail to impact in MLB.
Plenty of non-top 100 prospects have huge impacts after making it to the bigs (exhibit A - Jose Ramirez, exhibit B - Shane Bieber, exhibit C - Cody Allen)

Hopefully Gavin uses this as motivation to prove himself and do even better moving forward..

How could we regret the trade if we don’t know what we’d be getting in return?
Which is why I said "could". You don't think it's possible that Arias could turn out to be a fantastic MLB player?
