2022 RCF NFL Mock Draft: ON THE CLOCK...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
With pick #170, the Texans select:

Ben Brown - Center - Ole Miss

@AZ_ and the Packers are up with pick 171.

Noah Burks EDGE Wisconsin

With pick number 172 in the NFL fake draft, The San Francisco 49ers select...

Alex Wright, EDGE, UAB
  • Current Year: Junior
  • Height: 6’7″
  • Weight: 270 pounds
According to Tony Pauline:

Perhaps the most impressive trait for Wright is his bend capacity. Wright possesses great ankle flexion for his size. He accelerates around the edge while reducing his surface area, and he’s also proven to have fairly flexible hips. Wright rolls through contact and splices past blockers at tight angles.

Strengths
* Long frame with more muscle headed his way.
* Able to close out backside cutbacks quickly.
* Talent and traits to beat a single block with better technique.
* Able to gather feet and change direction quickly as interior tackler.
* Began altering rush cadence later in the season.
Foot quickness and agility for an edge-to-edge rush attack.
* Uses strength in hips to press through a redirection from tackle.
* Flows and turns with mobile quarterbacks once he's in the pocket.

Weaknesses
* Body is too smooth and needs additional weight-room crafting.
* Must improve his technique in taking on blocks.
* Had issues beating feisty Georgia tight ends.
* Lacks desired instincts and play diagnosis.
* Straight-legged rush diminishes counter effectiveness.
* Hands not strong enough to chop and displace a landed punch.
* Interior rush could use more explosive take-off and impact.
* Rush lacks functional sophistication at this time.

Why a fit for the 49ers?

This is the last pick I get to make for the Niners, who were without premium picks due to the Lance trade up in 2021. I think I solved their two biggest problems defensively with Logan Hall and Alex Wright. They lost DJ Jones as the three tech and Dee Ford is always injured. Arden Key served as pass rush specialist and Ford insurance. The Niners now have two absolute studs to go with Nick Bosa, Arik Armstead and Javon Kindlaw up front.

San Francisco draft through 5 rounds:

DL Logan Hall
IOL Sean Rhyan
TE Isaiah Likely
WR Tyquon Thornton
DE Alex Wright

With the 173rd pick in the 2022 NFL Mock Draft, sponsored by RCF, the Philadelphia Eagles select:

DRAFT PROFILE: BIO

Jalen Wydermyer is a former four-star recruit out of Dickinson High School in Dickinson, Texas. He was a three-year varsity letterman in football and a two-year varsity letterman in basketball.

During his freshman year at Texas A&M, he topped the team with 6 touchdowns and added 447 receiving yards on 32 catches. He continued this impressive form into 2020 putting up a further 6 touchdowns along with 506 yds on 46 receptions this led to Wydermyer receiving second-team All-SEC honors.
His junior year was much of the same as Wydermyer added a further 515 yds on 40 receptions He was named to the Walter Camp Preseason All-America Second Team, as well as the Athlon Sports Preseason All-America Second Team.

SCOUTING REPORT: STRENGTHS

  • A coordinated athlete and tough player to tackle, running with low pad level. Has good body thickness and strength.
  • Athletic able to running deep routes like a wide receiver
  • Good strength and effort to run through arm tackles.
  • Very good hands with a wide catch radius
  • Runs crisp routes and has a full route tree
  • Able to create separation with good speed
  • Has been though of as just a giant receiver - but thats not the case he is an asset as a blocker
  • A dominating red zone target who you uses his height (6' 5") to out jump defenders
  • Soft hands. Flashes good to very good tracking and overall body control to make catches outside of his frame.
  • Catches well in traffic, shields the ball from defenders with his frame, and holds on despite being hit. Will fully extend, snatch, and stay in bounds.

SCOUTING REPORT: WEAKNESSES

  • High cut frame and limited power in hands prevent a top blocking grade.
  • Has decent speed but isn't explosive which may limit his game to a possession receiver
  • Hasn't had great experience as a blocker - player WR in high school and so isn't instinctive
  • Only average lateral agility to elude and might not be fast enough to be a consistent threat down the seam against NFL competition.
  • Is a bit high-hipped and slow to get rolling. Frame limits upside as a blocker.
  • Not a dominating blocker and could do with improving his strength at the point of attack

SCOUTING REPORT: SUMMARY

Wydermyer had a consistently productive college career in Texas where he put up good numbers and looks to be an excellent receiving tight end, especially over the middle on intermediate routes. He however is not a polished blocker, and does lack a little speed to be considered a high pick - is like a poor man's Kyle Pitts.
He still is likely to have a good NFL career and put up decent numbers as a mid-range threat and a red-zone specialist. He likely will squeeze into the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft

The Cincinnati Bengals are up next...

LOGAN BRUSS OG WISCONSIN | NFL DRAFT PROFILE & SCOUTING REPORT

40 TIME: 5.32 SECONDS
HEIGHT: 6-5 WEIGHT: 316
HANDS: 11 ARMS: 33

Strengths

  • Lone concern is handling the superquick NFL edge rusher. Foot speed and quickness are very good, but not elite.
  • Above-average football smarts and general intelligence. Plays with a nasty streak. Solid character and work ethic.
  • Has the feet to adjust when he anticipates what's coming. Effective trapping and bends at the knees with adequate core strength to absorb the bull rush. Can clear a path at the second level if he hits the target.
  • Finishes and doesn't quit; competitor with a positive attitude and leadership traits that coaches admire.
  • Anchors against larger defenders in the middle; resets hands to maintain distance. Athletic enough to help on nose tackle then pick up twist or late blitzer. Mirrors quick interior rushers. Looks to help the center when uncovered.

Weaknesses

  • Isn't an elite quick-twitch blocker and his height causes him to be out-quicked. Leaks inside pressure when his technique gets sloppy.
  • Not physically imposing and has average overall strength. Upper body gets over his feet too often and he easily loses his balance.
  • Susceptible to speed rushers. Has only average quickness off the snap and doesn't possess the acceleration or arm length to corral defenders once they cross his face.
  • Will punch at smaller defenders instead of latching on and is more of a mauler than mover in the running game. Can improve maintaining outside leverage when doubling the nose. Ducks his head and gets too upright, causing him to fall off second-level blocks.
  • Attacks when necessary, though he won't consistently dominate and can lose balance overextending.

DEVON WILLIAMS WR OREGON | NFL DRAFT PROFILE & SCOUTING REPORT

40 TIME: 4.65 SECONDS
HEIGHT: 6-5 WEIGHT: 207
HANDS: 9 3/8 ARMS: 34 SPAN: 80 7/8

Strengths

  • Does not have exceptional straight-line speed but takes advantage of open seams when his quarterback is on target.
  • Has a knack for getting open and is a quarterback's best friend - passers just need to toss the ball in his area and he'll come down with it.
  • He catches the ball with his large, soft hands and is tough. Deceptive jets and a smooth route runner.
  • Has good body strength to squirm out of tackles with the coordination to maneuver his frame between defenders.
  • A versatile weapon, proving to be effective inside in the slot and outside on the perimeter. Makes plays at all levels of the field.
  • Does not possess top breakaway speed, though he's rarely caught from behind.
  • A savvy, natural pass-catcher with reliable hands and very good focus. Snatches the ball out of the air and shows the concentration to make acrobatic catches look easy.

Weaknesses

  • Does not always use his hands to secure deep throws, allowing the ball into his pads and chest.
  • Does not have elite speed to burn by defenders. Does not drop his hips to get in position while blocking and fails to take correct angles to his man.
  • Does not explode off the line of scrimmage and runs with long strides.

179) Indianapolis Colts (compensatory selection) @dkbldev is up!

@Randolphkeys @AZ_ if you guys have time, I am sure we would love to hear a BPA in a sense of the guys left, but that would be up to you!
