2022 Season | Series #11 | Guardians @ Twins | May 13-15, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Franmil with our last chance. Anyone feel a breeze in here?

Thinking positive: Very easily could have been a sweep. Happy they stole one. On to 9-26 Cinci.

Tough luck outings for Sticks and Biebs. Pitched well enough where you want that win on their record.

Reds and Tigers coming up. Finally some easy opponents.

Seems like it's either feast or famine for the G's offense and today was famine. They couldn't hit Joe Ryan's fastball although they had plenty of swings at it.

It might be time to move Gimenez up to 2nd in the order and drop Kwan. He keeps popping the ball up. He's hitting .222 in his last 54 at-bats.

McKenzie made three bad pitches and it cost him three runs. I wouldn't throw Buxton any more belt high fastballs and I would stick with breaking balls against Urshela or at least make sure the fastball was above the strike zone or off the outside corner.

Yeah, we were lucky to escape with one win. Now for a five-game homestand against the Reds and Tigers.

15 of the next 18 Twins games are against Detroit and KC with the other three against Oakland. In three weeks they could have a huge lead in the Central.

The White Sox just lost three of four to the Yankees.

Urshela has not forgotten how to play third base. And Joe Smith is still getting outs at age 38. Wish we'd have signed him instead of Shaw. In 12.1 innings he has still not allowed an earned run. He didn't sign with the Twins until late March.

Boom or bust leads to a 16-17 record

Pitching has been bad, but these 1 run scoring games will probably be on their way more and more
You can't apply a realistic approach or context in that argument. We're simply the 3rd highest scoring team in the league.

Not good, boys! Not good…

Do you think the Guards really sustain this?

I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. Are you referring to the poor offense? If so, then yes. If they think they can win with a bunch of punch and judy hitters then they are sadly mistaken. Besides, it's boring as hell to watch. Absolutely fucking boring. I fell asleep watching the game today.

Take a look at the games where runs were not an issue. I'm struggling to recall one that wasn't due to some power being demonstrated. Naylor, Jose, and Gimenez have had their moments and it's made a huge impact on the outcome of games/runs scored. Yes, it helps to have some guys get on base ahead of them, but with Franmil struggling that is a large burden falling on a couple of guys(mostly JRam and Naylor).

I've said it before and I stand by it still. If they intend to trot an OF out there every game consisting of some mix of Kwan, Straw, Rosario, Palacios, and Mercado then they will not be contending. I'll gladly eat crow in the event that I'm wrong.

I am not about to write off Reyes but he is no longer in our long-term plans .... He is a free agent in 3 years and someone will pay for his power (inconsistent as it is). Yet, we need to get him out of this funk to get some value for him at trade deadline. I would not mind putting Naylor there next year ... Miller 1B, Arias/Freeman 2nd, Gimenez SS Ramirez 3rd, Straw, Kwan, Palacios/Jones/Valera/Brennan/Gonzalez (4 out of 7) combo in OF.

Gone next year - Reyes, Hedges, Mercado, Chang, Rosario, maybe Clement -- In Arias/Freeman, Jones/Brennan, Lavastida/ possibly B Naylor

Geesh.

We certainly are quick to dump proven production when it slumps...lol.

The schedule has finally turned.

Over the next 29 games we play three at Houston and three at Colorado. Every other opponent has a losing record. Most of them are against the four worst teams in baseball. We also play 16 at home.
