2022 Season | Series #12 | Reds @ Guardians | May 17-18, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
what can you tell us about this new guy I just heard of - Oscar Gonzalez I think his name is....

For anyone who doesn't know...

Oscar Gonzalez is a DH that plays RF. Only thing defensively he has is a very strong arm in the OF. He has a ton of power, and isn't actually bad at making contact, if it's a fastball... he almost never walks and hasn't shown he can hit advanced breaking pitches. He has been killing minor league pitching and honestly has nothing left to prove in the minors. We are intrigued by his power and actual numbers in the minors. The question is can he actually figure out how to hit advanced breaking pitches?

His batting profile honestly is mythical and fictional Pedro Cerrano without voodoo

Edit: and yes Cerrano actually has a baseball reference page...

So it's Bradley 2.0 then at the plate? Let's hope not.

Naw, I always thought OGonz did a little more contact hitting than Bradley. OGonz doest strike out as much and goes the opposite way a lot better. His problem is the advanced off speeds, which normally aren't super heavily pitched at AAA...

With their win Tuesday the Reds have won 7 of their last 11. We caught them at a good time in April, not so much in May.

Welp, it's getting close to start shaking the top order up again. Kwan is going to be under .240 before you know it and already under .300 OBP. 4 games make his stats look formidable.

Wouldn't mind

Naylor

For those of us that put so much emphasis on early season velocity...

Quantrill is sitting 93-94...a whole MPH more than he has been, and closing in on his normal average.

*********

Naquin does it again.

1-1

Let’s throw Naquin a belt high fastball knowing full well he cannot handle high heat. SMH. Either our scouting reports are wildly deficient or are routinely ignored every Naquin at bat. :banghead::banghead:
