Mercado is 3-for-23, all singles, in his last 8 games. He's at .198 for the season. Not anywhere near good enough for a corner outfielder. On top of that he's got a nasty reverse split, hitting .154/.400 against lefties. His OPS against right-handers is .759, nearly double what he's hitting off lefties. Kwan has better numbers against lefties; .250/.603.
When Reyes is ready to come off IR it won't surprise me if Oscar follows Chang to Pittsburgh or wherever.
Does Oscar have any value? I have thought that Chang, Oscar and Ahmed are all in their last season in Cleveland for various reasons, but mainly that we have younger players right now who are better than them. Ahmed is the only one i think has value, as he is a decent bat, but we are so young and so much more talented at SS than Ahmed.
Am I wrong?
