If Miller can't hack a utility role then send him down. Pick up a utility guy who can hit better than Clement on the cheap if you must. Miller doesn't look ready for prime tie the more innings he plays. I'd put Straw to defensive replacement and 4th outfielder until he pulls his head out of his ass. Go out and find a legit bat to play one of the OF positions, or maybe a 1st baseman/outfielder if possible.

It's either that, or just keep the status quo... which translates to writing off the season. Because what this team is showing right now is what they will be if they somehow manage to scrape into the playoffs. They'll get run out of a playoff series in short order as currently constituted.

But if the front office wants to give this team a puncher's chance they need to give the roster a shot in the arm offensively, maybe 2 shots in the arm. Whether that comes from within the farm system or from an outside trade, I don't care and I don't have a qualified opinion. But surely the front office knows what moves are there to be made. It's time to make them.

I'm on the verge of boycotting games where we face a LH pitcher because our batting order against LHP looks and performs like an A ball roster. So they better do some damn thing.

I have been waiting to see what they do for today's game. I haven't seen any updates and honestly I hope they do more than just sending down Pilkington/Young? I want to see Jones, Freeman maybe Brooks, up with the big league club...

Think they'll bring up Fry before Brooks, especially if Ernie is on the outs. Don't think they'll call up either though.

Good with Brennan or Jones or any AAA OFer really.

I am not against either Brooks or Fry to be honest. Brooks is just a better 1B at the end of the day and a decent OF, while Fry can fill in at C. If Naylor is injured, they kind of have to bring up one of the two unless they bring up Noel for a short stint...

Mercado is one of the few Right handers that can play OF... We only have Call that's near... Otherwise I don't think anyone has any type of counter if Mercado is replaced by Brennan...

If Brennan is brought up (per my suggestion).. it will be to play.. if mercado is on the roster.. chances for play will be less..

This, of course, precludes any results/performance.. that, will be a wait and see type thing..

Between the two of them I think they have one redeeming skill - Clement is an above average (borderline elite) fielding third baseman. Somebody tell Tito that lefties are allowed to bat against southpaws. /sarc/

How come Miller isn't making plays he made earlier in the season? Naylor makes the same mistakes as well, so do the coaches have any blame? I think it's cause Naylor just isn't a good fielder and when Miller was hitting poorly last season, his defense wasn't good and so far this season, when his offense was good, he was playing a legit 1B, while when his offense went south, so did his defense... he needs to grow more mentally in my mind...

Then this weekend he again misplayed a throw at 1B but he was wearing a first baseman's glove. If he isn't even comfortable wearing the correct equipment what are we doing playing him at 1B?

I noticed that as well, so I wonder if his glove got messed up or something and had to break in a new one? I have had to get a new glove mid-season before and that stunk, not gonna lie... I have to fit gloves to my palm so that was always fun on the budget my dad gave me.

Either way, Miller has to shape up his bat and defense... He wasn't having these issues earlier in the season, which is the confusing part...

Few things ... We are in a stretch of righties for next 2 weeks until all-star break (even KC lefty is sch the day before they play us).

Thus, Mercado/Clement will see limited action

Naylor back is healthy enough to DH so may not be an issue.

Palacios is sitting again -- in a funk with his sub-200 BaBIP

And, after all this, they are still not listening to the posters on this board as they can easily call up Jones, Brennan, Benson or other lefties but for some reason like Mercado. Could it be other issues like development/40man space/or temporary issue till Oscar comes back.
