2022 Season Series #27 | Guardians @ Royals | July 8-10, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Good news: with his hit today, Jason Tyner now has a 5 game hitting streak and had raised his BA over 18 points.

i gotta ask…

If Tito is to get credit for when we have a hot streak and get into first place briefly, shouldn’t he also get blame for when we crap the bed against Detroit and Kansas City?

Yesterday was fun, today was not.

Reyes is the guy who frustrates me the most. Miller looks like a very fringe major leaguer. Rosario, as Tondo said, gets a lot of “empty” hits and seldom has an impactful at bat. Clement plays too much. Etc.

Thanks for listening…

I mean a manager does has some of the blame in loses, but the biggest question what is the difference between wins and losses normally? It's mostly guys doing what they were supposed to or not. Clement got the start today because Gimenez isn't 100% and with Naylor not being 100%, it puts Miller and Clement into the starting lineup.

My dream is that I wake up in the morning and they’ve traded Rosario, Reyes, Miller and Clement for (anybody)…

But why can't you just dream a prime Albert Belle replaced Reyes behind JRam... I think that would be more effective don't you?

Lol wasn’t it a wild pitch? His hit was later in the at bat.

But a walk and single is a good day.

You are right, I saw he got the hit, not the wild pitch before the hit lol either way he did his job haha. I was just glancing at GameDay since the game was over with by then

That 23-hit game yesterday was fun but predictably we're back to the same-o same-o today with five hits and one gift run.

Ugly game, ugly road trip as we go 1-6 against Detroit and KC. As Rick and Matt said, we expected to go at least 5-2.

Franmil got the Golden Sombrero as Greinke and the bullpen toyed with him mercilessly on a steady diet of low breaking balls, which he could not put even one in play in four at-bats. He was putty in their hands.

Straw got a hit - once again on the first pitch of the at-bat. He's better when he's aggressive and doesn't spot the pitcher two strikes before taking the stick off his shoulder. But he's still a bad hitter and I think Kwan takes his job in center once Jones, Gonzalez, and Valera are all ready for the bigs.

Heck, I want him benched as soon as Oscar G. gets back with Kwan moving to center, Oscar to left, and Jones in right.

This game was over in the 5th when the Royals got three runs on just one hard hit ball - a single by Benintendi. Otherwise it was a walk, an infield roller, an error by Jose, and a bloop that produced three runs and put the game out of reach. Tough luck for Plesac but he opened the door by walking the #9 hitter with one out and nobody on.

One bit of good news - Sandlin pitched for the second day in a row and retired six consecutive batters, three by strikeout. His two-day totals; 26 pitches, 18 strikes. It looks like his stint in Columbus got his control problem fixed, although it's only two innings.

OTOH, Hentges is still sucking. He's allowed 9 earned runs in his last 5 innings. It looks like his fastball has good velo (96-97) but no movement and is easy to barrel up if he doesn't hit the edges of the zone with it.

Minnesota and the White Sox also won. Just a total loss all the way around.

Literally as a rule I stop watching when Hentges comes in the game. I’ve only broken that rule once this year (a week or two ago) and I regretted it. He doesn’t have control of any pitch he throws. He’s just a big dude with an arm.

A lot of these guys might not work out for us in the end, but I actually enjoy the discovery process.

It's better than watching Paul Reuschel come in from the bullpen.
