2022 Season Series #32 | Guardians at Rays | July 29-31

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sometimes we win for the oddest of reasons, but until we lose, we might as well keep doing it....
No.

If you intentionally walk the first six batters of a game, but then come back and win, you shouldn't keep doing it.

It's stupid. It decreases your odds of winning. The end result doesn't change that.

Logic says you are right, but does logic always win?

And you know there is a fair amount of sarcasm in my words earlier lol

I kind of like the idea of Shaw intentionally walking batters. Most of them, anyway.

But it isn't merely a one game strategy.

A lot of things have to be considered.

The best strategy for winning one game might be to call up Pilkington. But we are coming close to losing the ability to use Pilkington to massage our roster.

Or the best one game strategy might be to call up a kid not yet on the 40 man. We could call up Battenfield, but we then lose the very little roster flexibility we still have. We could call up Allen or even Williams for a spot start, but then we make the coming roster crunch much worse.

The best one game strategy might be to use Shaw for one inning, but then the pen would be even more overworked. Shaw is the one reliever that seemingly can't be overworked or injured.
