2022 Season Series #32 | Guardians at Rays | July 29-31

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Shaw is clearly a one-inning pitcher.

McCarty now has the same number of wins as Plesac and Civale.

This was a most unexpected game. Call got on base all three times he faced McClannahan. Hedgie and Straw each had two RBI's. Franmil stole 3rd base standing up.

The Rays did their part by getting two runners thrown out on the bases, adding to their league leading total.

The G's scraped together five runs in 4.1 innings against McClannahan. Unbelievable.

This was a classic Guardians win - stringing hits and walks together, getting contributions from the entire lineup, clutch two-out hitting, solid defense, and strong pitching.

I'm very happy with 6-5 on this road trip against the White Sox, Red Sox, and Rays. Now we finally get to go home and play a sub-.500 team.

And we go home against a team that we could even make a trade with... we might have some players change clubhouses...

After 100 games our RH batters were hitting .209 vs. LHP. (Take out Amed and it's .198)
Our LH batters: .266.

Who are these RH batters anyway? Do we really need them?

He went 1-2 with two walks... he is doing what he is supposed to do is he not? Call was known for getting on base in the minors and he did the same thing today...

I'd keep Call over O. Gonzalez for now. Oscar isn't hitting in his AA rehab and Call has been better in upper minors since last year, that's a significant sample. Better defense/athleticism too.

Keep both on the 40, and make a decision/trade in the offseason if necessary.

Call is a weapon vs LHP, you can probably count on one hand how many batters got on base 3 times in the same game vs McClanahan this season and Alex Call is one of them.

We’d better beat up on the D-backs, bc the Stros are coming in right behind them.

I just had my grandma empty out her pension fund so I can bet on the Guardians to pull through and prove the haters and Vegas wrong.

Grandma and I will be watching together in our Shaw jerseys, hoping that our man won't let us down and that granny doesn't have to get a reverse mortgage on her home.
You us all lobster and steak dinners.

There are multiple ways of commenting on that shitty performance, but "great stuff" is certainly the least appropriate.

He battled, grinded whatever, but Tito glowing about Shaw's great stuff gave me the creeps. I'm at a point where I wish he'd take one of those many linedrives he gives up straight to his nuts and to the IL. He can be a great dude and bullpen dad from the bench every game. I don't see how this nightmare bromance would ever end otherwise. I want Tito to stay, but his Shaw fetish has got to stop, because he's torturing the entire fan base with him
Team is 2-0 when Shaw starts. I think Tito is on to something. We keep being told that Civales and Plesacs #s don't matter, they are just fine, well, Tito is doing the same with Shaw. Brian just gets results, dammit!

Nice team win. The law of averages came through with the dregs of our batting order. It had to happen eventually and today was that day. The Rays gifted us with some bonehead base running but our defense takes full advantage, credit to our guys.

I've lost track. Are we blaming Tito for this trip, or are we giving him credit for it?

Both

Re: Shaw
I've got no problems with him.
Is he an All-Star, foundation of the bullpen? Hell no.
But he will ALWAYS take the ball. Never complains ,rarely injured.
He's not afraid to let them hit the ball and earn their hits.
Yes, he gets overmatched against + hitters, but who doesn't. Every bullpen could use a guy like Shaw.
.
Probobly loose his job next season so some crazy-ass flamethower.

Twins lose 3-2 as the pen can't put out a fire.

One game back yet again.
