Why would they call up Benson and send down Call after he got 12 AB's? They're both outfielders. Naylor and Miller are both back in the lineup.

Are they going to give Benson 12 AB's and then call up Brennan? I'm not complaining, I'm just wondering what they're. thinking is on this.

Small sample, but Call had an OBP of .375. Four walks in 16 PA's, including two against the A.L. All-Start starter.

I’m guessing they just see Call as a filler guy, and not an actual prospect

A trade of Franmil could free up ABs for both.
 
It seems as if every position prospect weve brought up was immediately placed in the starting lineup....so not seeing Benson is a surprise, esp with a hot bat.

Maybe adding him to the 40 man is not a stand alone move.

The day has had no other rumors ... don't see a trade coming that was a part of this move which is curious as if he wasn't starting, why not wait a day for other things to play out? If it was for Reyes trade, you cannot guarantee that it will get done. If you were trading a Rosario/Plesac, why not wait for other 40 man issues. I just don't see a trade for Murphy. If it was for a bigger trade (adding Jones or others), you could have waited a day to see if it was going to happen and if the players in consideration now are the final one in deal.

This may be the big move...
 
Cleveland doesn't leak their trade talk activity so anything anyone is saying is merely guess work. I don't expect much to happen and if something does it will be in the selling fashion.

@petes999 this is a "perhaps" reason...

Monday is universally found to be the day off in MiLB.. moving guys from MiLB to other MiLB teams and or promotion to the big leagues..is best handled on a Monday..

If the team the Guardians are possibly (speculative) making a deal with.. require one of the guys already on the ML roster.. having the back up in Cleveland with this incredibly tight roster would be benefitial to the big club.. If not.. then the Guardians could be just rewarding Will Benson for a job well done..

Maybe?
