2022 Season Series #34 | Astros @ Guardians | August 4-7, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
S. Kwan LF
Rosario DH
J Ramirez 3B
J Naylor 1B
Gimenez 2B
Jones RF
W.Benson CF
Hedges C
Freeman SS

Really liking this lineup.

Straw and Ogon are weapons on the bench compared to Ernie and Call/Mercado.

We also get to see Benson in CF and Tyler at Short. Stoked!
Four rookies. Six lefties. No Straw, Miller, or Gonzalez. Benson in center. Interesting lineup.

Six guys who can legitimately go deep if Verlander makes a mistake. Technically Hedges could go deep, but let's keep it realistic.

Putting some boppers in there makes sense because you're not going to string a bunch of hits together against Verlander. Gotta hope for a bloop and a blast.

doesnt this feel like a "we're playing for '23 and '24 lineup?"

It's nice to have a play to win lineup

Smart money is giving Straw the night off vs a tough righty, same for OGon, but OGon and Nolan may be for a platoon going forward and I'm fine with that.

This pennant race will get really interesting once they replace Maile with Naylor

6.2 hits/9, .9 hr/9

Benson's first start against Verlander. Thanks, Tito.

Welcome to the Big Leagues.

Alex Call got two starts, vs Cease and McClanahan, the two best young SP in the AL. He reached base 3 times vs CY Young frontrunner and gets optioned down. Wanna talk unfair?

On paper we have no chance for a series win , but that is the fun of MLB and its 162 game season -- just about anything can happen in these small intervals!
Bring on the 'Stros, let's play ball! I will enjoy watching our young team take on this challenge.

I'm jealous! I'm on painkillers lol

Though I can at least use a fork easier now than I could before my surgery lol

Almost anyone else I wouldnt post this picture too, but your humor probably find it funny.

Hope you get better, may the Guardians win one for the Sportcoach.

I have no idea where to post this. It isnt concerning the game, but found it intriguing...and this thread will get some action tonight.

I was watching video of OGonz' homer yesterday. About the third time I watched it, I thought...Holy cow, that's a young Pujols.

So I looked up video of Pujols first MLB homer.

Same thing...esp from the waste down. Pujols has a little more lift in his swing, but its close...very close.

It's a long story of how I got interested in Pujols' swing. It goes from Michael Brantley to a state champion HS softball coach in West Virginia to Pujols.

When Brantley first came to Cleveland, I was transfixed with his swing...the best contact swing I've ever seen. Absolutely no unnecessary motion and no stride.

I was watching this HS softball team taking batting practice before the state semi finals. Not one girl took a stride. They just loaded up on their back foot, and shifted their weight forward.

I asked the coach about it, and he said...go watch video of Albert Pujols.

This does not mean that OGonz will become a Pujols, or even a left handed Brantley with pop. One is nearly impossible to become and the other is improbable.

But there are possibilities galore. That swing can hit lefties and righties.

Gotta be kidding me with that check swing. Not even close.

Pitching around Alvarez is smart. But you have to get the next guy.

The ump did not help at all.

Sometimes you pitch well and don't get rewarded. But you have to fight thru it.

Plesac did that...but it took a lot of pitches to do it.
