2022 Season | Series #49 | Rays @ Guardians | Sep. 27-29, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I've often said I wanted another Brantley and Casey Blake. Blake was capable at starting at every position, but catcher, SS, and CF.

Kwan is my Brantley.

I hoped that Miller would be my Blake, but hasn't sniffed outfield play, and hasn't looked comfortable at first base. Thats besides not hitting much.

So....my hope is that Arias becomes my Blake.

In high school, Blake was all state in baseball, football, and basketball....an all around athlete. It appears that Arias is a fairly big kid capable of plus defense at short, which means capable defense at all four corner spots, too.

If Arias becomes Blake, it solves every position we have or might encounter, excepting behind the plate. Thats more valuable than being the regular SS for an org overloaded with them.

If we need a RH corner OF bat, he's it. If we need a RH bat capable of playing are adequately at first (we do), he's it. If, heaven forbid, any of Jose, Kwan, or Gimenez gets hurt, he's it. If Oscar proves to be a flash in the pan, he's it.

With something brewing in the second, here comes Arias...

ball not hit hard enough to turn the DP.. runners at the corners..but two outs, now..

hedgie follows by whiffing to end the threat..

The book will soon be out on Arias.. hard stuff away... He's gonna neeed to make an adjustment..

He beats the relay to first.

Not optimal, but good effort.

And he did change his approach with two strikes.

Springs up to 31 pitches through two innings.

Hedges looked quite overmatched at this level in that AB

I honestly would love to see Naylor get the opportunity to start game #1 next season. One can only hope. It's a clear upgrade.

Quantrill seems to be settling in...through 3, just over 50 pitches.. still 1-0..

Plenty of tickets still available to the Wild Card series according to the PA announcer between innings!

straw really knocked the crap out of that one.. hit it almost 70 feet and with an exit velo of nearly 32...
