2022 Season - Week 1 - Browns @ Panthers - 1 pm on CBS

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm thinking that Delpit is a box safety who is going to struggle some when asked to make decisions quickly as a deep free safety. Maybe he'll get it, maybe he won't. I like him, I hope he grows into a more versatile S.

If he can't play in coverage, he can't start in thr NFL.

He's still young and talented. He still lacks experience. I'm not pulling any plugs.

As long as he learns from each mistake, I'm sticking with him. If he repeats the same mistake on a deep post next week, then we have problems.

Did a nice job on McCaffery. Of course, he should have touched the ball more often. At one point I commented to my daughter "Why don't they just hike the ball to McCaffery?"

In college and the scouting report coming out, the opposite of what you're saying was true.

Ultimately, I think he's just a young player who made some major gaffes today. His ability to read the ball and make a play on the INT flashed his talent.

We’ve seen a lot worse.

No turnovers. Improved after the 1st quarter

Converted several third and mid to 3ed and long throws

Got the ball where it needed to be in final drive

Didn’t start getting QB1 reps until 3+ weeks into training camp and barely played in the preseason games on a team he’s new to.

Defintely has limitations and is not starting material under normal conditions , but given the situation he’s been put into and the totality of the game, let’s save words like terrible and awful for play that truly deserves is.
The guy averaged 4.7 YPC. I'm guessing the advanced metrics won't be very kind to that performance. He got carried by a strong running game, an amazing kicking performance and questionable roughing penalty. He was terrible. The panthers suck and nearly beat us.

Now youre making it out as if I said he was good. I didn’t. Learn some nuance.
he played like a backup. He played like a guy with a lot to work on and a lot of limitations. He did not play good, he did not play terrible. 74 offensive plays, one sack taken, zero turnovers. Had some horrible throws. Made some critical third down conversions.

Some horrible throws from a backup is not the same as Playing Terrible in totality. I’d love to know your list of incredible alternatives. And benching a QB or firing a coach after week one is amateur hour.

Lets check back in a few weeks. And dude, even if he does play the same or worse than this week for a few games, the alternatives are literally Dobbs, Mond, and Rosen, none of which are starter quality either,

It is what it is, We’re just doing whatever possible to hang on until week 12 and I’m not going to bury a limited scrappy QB playing his first game after a limited first training camp who’s only in as a placeholder because of crazy ciricumstances

Any win with Brisket at qb is bonus.

He is terrible.

York had enough distance to knock that in from 60+

All I said was the guy is terrible, which he is. I never said there were better options or to fire anyone. Going to be tough to win games with this guy though.

Eh, I guess I'm being a stickler about definitions. Definitely not good today. I'd rate his overall performance in totality, as somewhere between bad and below average. I reserve terrible for multiple turnovers and boneheaded plays. We've seen a lot of those games in Cleveland over the past 20 years and to me, this one didn't sink to the level of "terrible" qb performance. Definitely lacking though and again, I'm being a bit OCD on the definitions.

After I wind down a little, fucking hell, we needed a 58 Yard FG from a Rookie Kicker to beat Baker Mayfield. (And a roughing penalty)

Not sure how to feel going into a tougher stretch of games with Jacoby. He left a lot of points on the field.

Also the defensive backs being prone to huge plays still is concerning.

1-0 is a whole lot better than 0-1, and now we have the brutal Jets that's starting Joe Flacco. 2-0 could lead to some good rhythm and maybe we sneak out a win later on due to good play following week to week. 6-5 is realistically all I want and this site will be bonkers.

Congrats on your guys feel good Sunday though, they don't always happen. Especially in this fashion.
