2022 Season - Week 1 - Browns @ Panthers - 1 pm on CBS

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
After I wind down a little, fucking hell, we needed a 58 Yard FG from a Rookie Kicker to beat Baker Mayfield. (And a roughing penalty)

Not sure how to feel going into a tougher stretch of games with Jacoby. He left a lot of points on the field.

Also the defensive backs being prone to huge plays still is concerning.

1-0 is a whole lot better than 0-1, and now we have the brutal Jets that's starting Joe Flacco. 2-0 could lead to some good rhythm and maybe we sneak out a win later on due to good play following week to week. 6-5 is realistically all I want and this site will be bonkers.

Congrats on your guys feel good Sunday though, they don't always happen. Especially in this fashion.
Wins are hard to come by.

The Bengals went to the super bowl and lost to Mitch Trubisky and a steelers team that lost Najee and TJ to injury.

The Packers put up 7 on a not great Minnesota defense.

It could be worse. It will be worse. But I like our coaching and talent. We just have to learn from our mistakes and get better.

The problem with the word “terrible” applied to any 21st century Browns QB is that applies to the majority of them. We need to find another word to apply to Jacobs’s performance today.

Fortunately we have lots of words to specifically identify just how terrible a QB plays in a given game.

Weeden, Frye, Wynn, Quinn, Manziel, Kiner …

The year after Brian Sipe was MVP of the AFC he threw a pick six. No, that doesn’t mean he threw an interception returned for a touchdown - he threw six interceptions. The reigning MVP. Brutal.

Bill Simmons called a game with no TDS and at least three picks a “Plummer” for Jake the Snake (no, not the wrestler).

So Brisket definitely sucks but he did avoid any turnovers. Not enough to win very many games in 2022 but at least we won’t go with zero wins like an earlier Browns team.

I’d give him a D+. If I had to use a word I’d say his performance was “weak”.

Also Tom Brady looks rusty tonight but he did miss training camp for awhile. Rodgers sucked. It’s Week 1 so a lot of QBs didn’t do well.

There are other Browns players who had worse games today.

Love that we’re playing Flacco the statue next week. Expecting 6-7 sacks.

People saying the roughing penalty at the end of the game was bullshit must have forgotten the bullshit roughing call Taven Bryan was called for earlier in the game.

Also, it seems like we really lucked out not getting an intentional grounding call on Brisset on his half asked spike (if I'm understanding the rule correctly). Although Cade would have made it from 70 anyway.

Yeah I think the fake spike thing is a legit gripe that Panthers fans can have. I think that would be a 10 second runoff with the clock starting, so we’d basically have 3 seconds to get the snap off and kick it.

That being said, we’ve been on the wrong end of so many of these awful calls that it’s nice to finally be on the right side.

On the roughing call. Was it our lineman that hit him in the face/helmet? It’s obvious something caused his head to jerk back to fast and awkwardly.

I've been watching the Browns get absolutely fucking taken to the woodshed by referees since 1999.

I have zero sympathy for someone else being on the wrong side of it for a change. Fuck 'em.

The Browns could get one of those every game til our horny QB comes back and it wouldn’t be enough.

Watch the replay, he didn't fake spike shit.

>Item 3. Stopping Clock. A player under center is permitted to stop the game clock legally to save time if, **immediately upon receiving the snap, he begins a continuous throwing motion and throws the ball directly into the ground.**

>**Item 4. Delayed Spike. A passer, after delaying his passing action for strategic purposes, is prohibited from throwing the ball to the ground in front of him, even though he is under no pressure from defensive rusher(s).**

Item 4 doesn't work. What was the strategic purpose of him delaying his passing action?

He sure looks like he just forgot what to do for a millisecond then remembered and spiked the ball. Also, even though it's completely kosher per the rules, to try to win on a technicality which has absolutely no bearing on anything that actually happened on the field (one extra motion which is perfectly legal) rather than by anything the two teams did per play is pretty fucking weak.

No. Wills was actually moving away from Brissett. The replay is all over Twitter and it's blatantly obvious the d-lineman went helmet to helmet.

Nobody *likes* that rule but... it's the rule. Amazing that the Panthers, its fans, and the media aren't willing to acknowledge this.

Who gives a shit about the fake spike? Sour grapes and we are finally on the right side of things. We won!!! We don’t have to hear about Baker the loudmouth again this year. He will be backing up Russell Wilson next year.

I’ll enjoy this win until next Sunday.
