2023-24 Season | Game #13 | Nuggets @ Cavs | Nov. 19, 2023 | 6:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We caused real problems for Jokic tonight. Good job Mobley and Allen! The whole team was keyed in defensively. I love it!

Starters:
Wade 6-10-2 with 2 steals in 24 minutes. Excellent!
Mobley 16-10-5 with 2 blocks in 32 minutes 8-11 fg.
Allen 15-5-5 with a steal in 29 minutes. He drew two fouls on Jokic in the 3rd that sent him to the bench. 6-10 fg
Strus 11-6-5 with a block in 32 minutes as SG. Excellent!
Garland 26-3-6 with a steal and a block in 33 minutes. Perhaps his best game. He looked in control and ran the offense well.

Bench: 47-12-7 in 24 minutes Their best game all year.
Thompson 5-3-0 in 11 minutes. He made Jokic work
Niang 12-3-2 in 23 minutes. He's getting better. 2-3 from 3.
CRAIG Porter 21-4-4 with 2 steals and a block. Spectacular! JYD! Rubio couldn't do better.
Merrill 9-2-1 in 24 minutes It's good to see him be productive.
Bates 0-1-0 in 4 minutes.
Jones 0-0-0 in 3 minutes

It looks like the coaching staff had a pretty well game plan given cavs were undermanned. Impressed that JBB kept his rotations and did not panic when nuggets were making a run in the 2nd quarter.

That was a really fun game. CPJ is the real deal, and it’s nice to have Merrill getting some minutes early in the season. Mobley looked great playing within the flow of offense but I wish he would have been more assertive as always. Hopefully that comes with experience.

Mitchell is a smart man. He sat there and watched how we played. If he cares like I think he does, he'll make adjustments to make this thing work.
I'm sure that he can start most games with that mentality.

What is diffiicult for players with that skillset and alpha mentality is to not revert to hero ball ways when the normal offense goes cold, especially when Donovan hero ball mode is often very prolific and efficient.

Anyway I don't think Mitchell is a toxic ball hog the level of a James Harden is. He can fit in better.

So we'll see how it goes from here.

The point is the days of the isolation scorer dominating the ball are leaving us. They were at their peak in the 90s, but the offenses have just gotten better and better and that type of scheme doesn't produce the level of efficiency required to compete anymore.

More and more the teams that move the ball and keep it moving are the teams advancing.

THere's a reason the Heat keep rising in the post-season to make runs they have no business in making based on their talent.

Damn bro, you're ready to say that already?

But to play that game, if they do decide to do it, they better keep talks quiet and get it done quickly after a lot of careful internal conversations. In today's NBA, you don't want to build bad blood with a superstar when they learn you are shopping him and have things devolve from there into a situation where you can't get full value for one reason or another.

I'm not there yet, though.
I never thought they should’ve traded for him in the first place. The offense flows more naturally when it runs through Garland. They should’ve traded for a small forward. Not another small ball dominant guard.

Can't change the past so the trick now is, if they ever do come to the point where either they want to trade him or he doesnt sign his ext in July, is finding an equitable trade. A very tough needle to thread, especially if they were to decide to do it during this season( I highly doubt they do)

I really liked that DG/Strus/Wade/Mobley/JA starting lineup. Everyone knew their roles, everyone were true sized for their position, and the defense was phenomenal.

That's not going to work in the playoffs, but it's good for regular season wins.
