The Cavs had 16 turnovers to the Mavericks 5. Darius was 2-for-10 and missed two free throws that turned out to be huge at the end.

But there was a lot to like. The Cavs hit 53% from the field and 50% on 3's. Mitchell had a line of 31/7/6, but committed 7 turnovers. Allen had 19 points on just 9 shots. The bench was outstanding for once; Niang was a +17, LeVert a +16, and Okoro a +12. Strus, of course, practically won the game by himself in the 4th quarter and finished with 21 points, hitting 7-of-10 from deep.

Maybe this will get him going. He was hitting just 33.3% of his 3's coming in - well below his career average.

The Mavericks hit 52.7% and 42.4%, but I can't fault the Cavs' defense. Doncic just made some incredible shots falling backward off one foot with a hand in his face. He's also an incredible passer. He had 45 points, 14 assists, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals. If he's not the best player in the NBA - show me who is.

I'm thankful for the win but realistically the Cavs did not play well enough to win. They need to get a lot better if they want to get to the second round this year.

I think all teams get wins they shouldn’t get during the year. Maybe not on a 53’ shot but they do

I'm actually surprised the referee didn't miss Mitchell's timeout call. They missed calls as obvious as that for two nights running.

Missed the game babysitting my little nephews(2 and 4)

Got the 2 year old to catch a basketball (mini sized) for the first time so well worth it.

Just watched a few of those 10-12 game highlight reels on YouTube and while I know those only show made shots and highlight defensive plays, the takeaway I got was that this game was intense, physical, max effort, and more like a playoff game than a regular season game.

Is that how it looked/felt watching the actual full game or am I just getting a misread of the highlights?

It was an intense game and fun environment from beginning to end. It was back and forth all night with so many lead changes...we were up by 14 in the second quarter, but the Mavs came right back, and the Mavs were up by 10 with 3 minutes left, and you saw the rest.

The Cavs honestly played really hard all night, particularly defensively (I know that may be hard to believe given Luka's statline, but he is so insanely good so many of his shots were made even after good defense). The Cavs played with an energy that was missing the last couple games, even though our big 4 were pretty middling (for them) on the offensive end.

Lastly, being at the arena, that crowd was fire and really into it. Loudest game of the season, and it reminded me of how electric the arena would be during the LeBron 1.0 era...it hasn't been like that in a long time. Everyone was standing the last 3 minutes of game time, and it was really great to see.

That came through the TV watching it. I said a few times to my wife that it felt like a playoff atmosphere and style of game.

Luka just had one of those nights where he was hitting step back 3s over Mobley, Allen, Okoro, Strus, and whoever else the Cavs threw at him. Great players do that. Major credit to the Cavs for responding.

Mitchell in particular came out and wouldn't be denied in that fourth quarter when he was first re-inserted for the stretch run. He attacked the rim relentlessly.

That said, pj Washington is going to make teams pay for years after that smart Dallas trade. Lucky that he didn’t win the game yesterday in that sense, let another team suffer.
