2023-24 Season | Game #71 | Cavs @ Heat | March 24, 2024 | 6:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He has a few weeks to show what type of player he can be. Mobley offers way more than just scoring, which again, in my opinion makes him way more valuable than the ones you mentioned. I also have Scotte Barnes on a small tier above Baker Mayfield on my all-time favorite professional ahtletes so do not listen to me lol lol lol
Scottie isn't..all the way there so to say.. idk lol. I don't like Scottie at all. I'm just judging Mobley on this down year. I'm down on him being a Duncan-lite, Garnett-lite like we believed. He has no offensive game and is best when he is spoonfed the rock.

But then again, maybe this is all on JBB not having an offense.

Season has been a clusterfuck with ups and downs... This is an all-time low point with time running out... As mentioned in the Mobley thread, I think Mobley's talent is there, again my opinion, his offensive game still obviously needs work, kid works hard, I believe he will continue to grow. Defense is not a problem for him...I don't know it is a great draft class though...I like Sengun a lot as well from that class and TM3...

Some of us questioned the giddy assumptions of Duncan-life, Garnett-lite from the start.

"Our guys just didn't play hard enough. If you want to win in this league you have to play hard night-in, night-out."

"It all starts on the defensive end. We are at our best when we're getting stops. We didn't do that tonight."

Who's ready for it?
OMG, almost word for word!

  • There’s not a whole lot to say after a loss like that. Tonight was the fourth worst loss in the Bickerstaff Cavalier era. The top-10 worst losses all came in 2021 season with the exception of November 2023.. to the Miami Heat.
  • Bickerstaff is now 6-10 versus Erik Spoelstra and the Miami Heat as a Cavaliers head coach. Games like these are painfully obvious what a coaching disadvantage the Cavs be faced with in the playoffs.
  • When people ask if coaching matters, go back and watch the second quarter. The Heat’s defensive strategy single handedly changed the game. The Heat offered initial pressure on the in-bound which fell back into a zone. This sped the Cavs up to get it past half court, and when they did 6-8 seconds was already off the shot clock. Then when asked to run half-court sets versus zone, the Cavs looked like a fish out of water.

Mobley's offensive skills were mostly assumed based on very minor dribbling skills, athletic profile, and height/length. Guys like Duncan, Garnett, and even Sengun came in with clear offensive skills from the jump.

Trying not to get too down on the guy, but I'm just not sure he will become much more than he currently is offensively. He'll flash something interesting every now and then, but we never see anything consistent from him outside finishing at the rim. He's not the ball-handler most people like to imagine him to be. His shot hasn't developed. He's just so far away from being the offensive player this team needs him to be.

Well, the way things are going, I can see JBB getting the Budenholzer/Griffin dismissal after this season.
I just hope that the Cavs do not follow up JBB with Budenholzer (we've seen him without Giannis, and even though I felt he got scapegoated last season) or Luke Walton. The next coach will have to be a home run with the changes I expect in the next 2 seasons or so.

tired of seeing this team just letting shooters go, or let scrubs who don't shoot have career nights. tired of the team not being healthy.

IDC what the National Spacing-ists gotta say about it. JBB only plays the 2-big lineup sparingly. the problem is that the Cavs don't have Wade or Strus in the rotation, which says less for Donovan. The "Sam-sanity" run has been over for a while. Opposing teams pounce on him quickly. Do I think he needs to be out of the line up? No. But we are seeing what we're seeing. LeVert has been beyond disappointing; costing the Cavs 1 game at least thus far.

Whatever future changes come to this team, they have to be homeruns. Else, it's gonna look like a crappy version of Brooklyn.

Probably should have put this in the "Rant" thread but let's just say, I'm tempted to get banned for speaking sometimes when the Cavs are where they are.

Worse vibes than 2011.

Jalen is comically overrated
he's finally risen to the surface after a couple of seasons in the depths of Ass Water. I will give him that much, because he was looking to stay down there where all the "Ball is Life/True Hooper" players can get stuck.

I still like Amen Thompson better as a prospect.

I am going back off this one after hearing comments. They sold this game for tomorrow. I view the next 3 games as must wins. Win them, get Struss and Wade by the West coast trip. Make a statement vs the Nuggets.

Not too get too far out ahead, but is the only option really a guy like Bud when you consider what could be at stake next year? Can they afford a first time head coach, and someone who’s never really coached at a high level before like a Charles Lee or Chris Quinn?

I know Bud has his warts but the guy is a proven winner, and proven offensive mind which is two things this team needs.. Giving the reins to a first time head coach is really worrisome — we’ve seen how much on the job growth like Mazzulla has had to go through and he got placed into the perfect situation..

To me, Bud, Kenny Atkinson and Jordi Fernandez are the top three candidates heading into the offseason.. Atkinson has the player development and GSW doctorate to his name, albeit a less than stellar ending in Brooklyn, and Jordi checks every box (offensive innovator, on experienced staffs, international experience, Cavaliers familiarity) but would be a first time HC in the NBA..

I wouldn’t rule out a sneaky candidate like Johnnie Bryant, if they’re really trying to cater to Mitchell, or Alex Jensen, same Mitchell connection but also a Cavs connection and has some HC experience, either..

Atkinson has been at the top of my list for a while. If only he would get out of GSW... and Fernandez was No. 2 for the reasons you mentioned.
