2023-24 Season | Game #71 | Cavs @ Heat | March 24, 2024 | 6:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Spo is the best coach in the NBA, i credit him with stopping the Garland/Fro pnr that was killing teams in 2022, there was a game 2 years ago where he started dropping Tucker out of the corner to blow it up, we still won the game easily (Miami had a lot of players out and Okoro was making shots), I remember thinking i was hoping it was just an out of the blue thing but teams started copying it

Sure, but he also should be coming off the bench.

Okoro just isn’t a quality starter on a good team. It’s no surprise that he’s looked significantly worse when being thrust into a larger role, both in terms of minutes and offensive expectations.

As a 7th man? He’s a wonderful fit on this team, in my opinion.

I had higher hopes at the beginning of the season but agree now. However, you don’t pay a 7th man $15 million let alone 20. More like half that.

Actually the $20 million for Okoro stuff was always laughable

Ur not going deep into the playoffs if Darius Garland is your best player ….

No shot no matter who is coaching…
What team has Darius Garland as their best player?

Being an NBA coach is an extremely lucrative, exclusive job. These aren't the type of jobs you should let guys "grow" into for extended periods of time. Investment is too high and there's too many other good candidates waiting for a shot.

The move, w/o any need of hindsight, should have been made two years ago when the 2nd half collapse occurred and culminated in losing both play-in games.

Injuries hurt the Cavs? Tough luck. But an NBA coach isn't the type of job where you get the benefit of doubt w/o actually earning the benefit of the doubt. The blame falls on you.

Bickerstaff has yet to earn the benefit of the doubt. And he's a lot of stops to do it at this point.

A major mistake was made two summers ago and has been compounded on time and time again and, by all rights, should result in Altman losing his job too.

Mike Budenholzer is w/o a job for fucks sake. The man has had more success than JBB in one post-season than JBB has had in all of his combined.

And at multiple stops!

But still, he got judged for his teams flopping in the post-season one too many times. Even teams like the Hawks whose best player was Paul Millsap.

Bickerstaff has been given a leash far, far, faaaar longer than his resume has deserved. And it's gonna kill this iteration of the Cavs.

Great post. JBB is now the sixth longest tenured NBA coach with the same team, and HE HAS NEVER WON A PLAYOFF SERIES! His lifetime playoff record in 7 seasons as a head coach is 2-8 — that’s not series, it’s games! He’s won a total of two playoff GAMES in 7 seasons as a head coach! I don’t have time to look now but that’s got to be the worst playoff record of any NBA coach with as many seasons as head coach as he does. I wonder if it’s the fewest playoff wins ever for anyone with 7+ seasons as an NBA head coach, must be close. Of all the people to choose to take a team into top-level playoff contention he is not it. It can’t be a coincidence when you perform that badly.

I think Koby had this theory of “culture” that led him to just never firing anyone who was an insider who he perceived as having a positive attitude. And Dan was dealing with personal tragedy so wasn’t in his coach-firing mode

The thing that kills is me is that none of his prior teams thought to give him the benefit of the doubt, despite fairly tough circumstances.

FOr instance, he took over mid-season for a fired Kevin McHale in Houston. They made the playoffs.

And he didn't keep the job past that lone season.

Then he took over mid-season in Memphis for David Fizdale. Had a terrible season. They kept him around one more year. Missed the post-season.

And they fired him.

For w/e reason these other organizations were able to evaluate him quickly and move on but we couldn't do it.

Mind you, every team he's become head coach of was initially on an interim basis. No one has actually picked this guy to be their head coach outside of that scenario so far.

He is the 6th youngest coach in the NBA and one of the longest tenured coaches. Not sure this one makes sense here...
