2023 College Football Season/Playoff (off the field)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Can we stop playing MAC teams now please?

Two hills left to overcome.

The Big10 and SEC kicking out the Vandys of the conferences.

What happens to the blue bloods that can’t hit 0.500 for years in a stacked league.

Pretty soon there will be college football and the NFLs G-League. Big10 and SEC will break off sooner or later.

Yea my overall feel8ng towards sports in general is that TV money is ruining a lot of what I enjoyed about them.

Just an extension of that.

I don't get why European soccer fans were.able to band together to say no to the Super League the major clubs wanted to form and we here in America just watch it all happen and barely say a word.

The lack of money for the Pac12 is really what killed them. Gene Smith said Fox came in and gave 30-35 million a year extra for each Oregon and Washington. I'm sure they will get a little more too because the Big10 has deals with NBC and CBS too.

The other reported possible deals for the Pac12 were ESPN/ABC coming in at 30 million for all the TV rights. Apple came in for the A package games for 20 million but they couldn't find anyone for package B games. Then there was some deal with the expectations of Amazon taking up a lot of the TV rights while CBS/Fox taking up the rest but Amazon never made a bid.

From this stuff, I think there was an expectation that streamers would come in with big money and drive the prices up but they seem to have done the opposite. Low bids or not even willing to make a bid probably means that streaming services aren't really looking to get into the college football landscape.

The consolidation of the conferences basically is so they have the best choices of games for networks to pick from. Networks don't want to have to air some of these bad games in any of the timeslots. They want to push the lesser schools into non power conferences.

Florida loses. Minnesota with a wild comeback and walk-off FG against Nebraska. Fun night! Looking forward to beating the shit out of Indiana to kick off the Buckeyes season.
