I don’t think the ask is too high. I think Arizona just doesn’t have an idea of what they want to do in 2023 just yet, compete or get younger.

Cleveland is monitoring the availability of him and CJ Cron.

Everyone in the league likes Jose, so yes he is a fan. But Cleveland is and always has been a tough sell on higher profile Cuban players.

What kind of deal do you think will get Walker if they decide to officially make him available? Are guys like SP Kelly, C Kelly and LHP Mantiply any interest to Cleveland as well, or they just more the fans want to kick the tires on them? (I feel like all four of those guys from the DBacks make sense in some capacity).

Ps. I don't really want Cron, his home and away splits scare me... lol

By the book, JRam shouldn't be a Guardian right now. Why did they negotiate with him when they knew he could get more elsewhere? It never hurts to keep the lines of communication open.

It still ticks me the way Omar left the Indians. The FO said he deserved more than they wanted to pay. I don't think they ever even made an offer for him. Omar and Kenny should have retired as Indians.

I hope we make a nice fat offer to Aaron Judge, just to make the Yankees pay more.

Our recent history with Yandy Diaz and a real Roberto Hernandez probably doesn't help when I think about it.

As far as Abreu being a fan of Jram, I guess I meant they have been playing together for a pretty long time now so maybe Abreu values that relationship in some capacity.

Think we could make an extremely competitive offer for Walker, one that shouldn't cause an excessively massive wave in our prospect nerd pool and beat our competitors. We have a wide array of AAA/2nd year type players available too.. Get this done please.

What about Juan Yepez?

It doesn't have anything to do with how they've handled Cuban players in the past. Puig loved his time in Cleveland and would have been open to returning if an offer was made.

Just their handlers like pushing them to more "marketable" locations. So places like Cleveland have a negative perception amongst them. Go look at every high-profile Cuban signing in recent memory. Almost all of them went to Cali teams, Florida teams, an East coast major city like NY or Boston, or Chicago. The lone exception is probably Chapman.

Dominican's, Puerto Rican's, Venezuelan's...they don't care about the city they sign with, they just want the chance. Cuban's though? Their handlers and the people who helped them flee to the states have every incentive to get them to larger markets.

Judge to SF would be rather calamitous for his offensive output, IMO.

Tough place to go hit, the polar opposite of Yankee Stadium.

What bothers me is when a front office with a tight budget tries to appease their fan base by saying “we went aggressively after (name your big name free agent) but couldn’t get it done”. The Guardians going after Rodon last year was reasonable, but now he’s in line for a big payday, and we don’t do those kind of deals.
Marty,

Why do you think the conversation with Rodon was done just to appease fans?

That's not a thing. 95% of fans will never even hear the Meisel leak from this year.

Does it really matter to Judge though once he lands his 18 year contract?

I mean I don't disagree with you at all, but ultimately this is gonna be Judge's last major contract so will he really care if his offense is subdued a little bit by his home park?

He's getting every cent of his 8 year, 320M (or whatever he's about to get) deal no matter what his stats are.
