2023 Guardians Spring Training Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Brito should not even be in this conversation.. He isn't near the roster bubble at all. That's not an opinion but a fact...

The roster bubble is Bilous with Palacios and Tena as trade candidates... I doubt they even want to think about moving anyone else unless it upgrades the roster
trade bilous, palacios and tena to the pirates. They always like to take on our players. No clue what we would get for them, maybe 2-3 lower level prospects that we would not have to worry about 40 man stuff

Not an opinion, but fact you say? Based on what....your opinion?

Well no shit they aren't "thinking about moving anyone else unless it upgrades the roster". That was the point of the conversation genius.

Brito isn't going to be moved this season and he also has more options than the rest of the guys. They wouldn't have traded Jones unless they felt Brito can be a legit player. Brito is nowhere near the bubble nor likely to be traded this season. Since Brito got traded, everyone is now starting to rank him, so the national media is starting to catch onto what Cleveland saw in him...

Jesus Christ SC pay attention and comprehend what is being said. I never said that Brito would be the first to go. I just listed 7 guys who could be removed from the 40 man if needed. Obviously those 7 have varying degrees of need/usefulness. Then you go on some fucking silly tangent about me suggesting that Brito will be removed. Keep up dude.

Here are some last-minute predictions:
  • At some point, Spongebob will be in Columbus.
  • At some point, we will trade a SP.
  • At some point, we will have only 2 catchers on the roster.

My point was you put Brito on a list that he has no reason to be on... He isn't near the last 7 list/7 available list, was my point

In terms of MLB readiness, Brito is behind...

Amed
Gimenez
Arias
Freeman
Rocchio
Tena

He has 3 options, the same as Martinez.

Gimenez is gonna be here a long time, so thats one spot gone.

Amed will probably not be here long, which would open spot.

If Amed leaves, somebody will be chosen to pair with Gimenez.

That means that there are three left between the two starters in Cleveland and Brito/Martinez, and only two years to make decisions on this particular group.

IMO its more likely that the more advanced MIFs would be moved before Brito...because it allows the FO to keep kicking the can down the road.

Once these kids run out of options, they've lost most of their trade value.

Brito also has an interesting profile as well since he walked more than he SO and has a plus contact profile. Even though he isn't supposed to have plus speed, he swiped 17 bags and he is supposed to be a legit 2B defensively... His splits really had no difference in 22 as well while being a switch hitter...

Palacios and Tena are the first position players who could be gone. Noel is also on the short list since he is power before contact. (Though I am hoping he gets back to his 21 type of numbers...

That's fine and all, but if it came down to needing 7 spots(obviously they won't) he's pretty much a lock to be designated. That doesn't mean it's ideal and again, the point was that there was plenty of guys to remove from the 40 man without hurting the ML team. You turned it into something else.

I'll go ahead and call BS on Noel being lower priority than Brito and I'll explain why. There is plenty of contact first guys in the system, but there are very few guys that profile like Noel. You can get on some false narrative about drafting/acquiring nothing but contact oriented hitters if you want, but they'll always keep a few potential boppers as well.

Just for S&G's:
J. Brito in 3 minor league seasons- 295/406/469/875
R. Palacios in 3 minor league seasons- 308/400/484/883

One your saying has no business on my list and the other you're saying would be the first to go. Personally, I'm not concerned about either which is why I put both of them on the list. If the choice was between those 2, I'd probably go with designating Palacios. If the choice was between Brito and Noel it's Brito getting designated everyday of the week because we have plenty that profile like him and not many like Noel. Don't get me wrong, I like the Brito for Jones deal, but Brito is more 2B depth when we already have a ton of it.

Noel has a very high bust risk while Brito doesn't at the end of the day. Guys like Noel bust more than the succeed plus Brito is a switch hitter as well... Brito isn't near or at the last seven on the roster.
