2023 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
ESPN list out:

42 DeLauter
79 Rocchio
83 Manzardo
92 Espino

Manzardo qualifies for draft pick compensation, as does Rocchio, who made all 3 lists btw and should be given the opportunity to win the SS gig from day one. If they don't believe in him, this might the best time to Nolan Jones' him at least, as the industry seems to like and value him more than they do.

Screw it... Let's break camp with DeLauter, Rocchio and Manzardo as opening day starters..

Trade off some "surplus" for another BP stud and win it all.

Last year we had 3 top 100 SP and they're comparable in talent.

DeLauter = G. Williams
Manzardo = Bibee
Rocchio = L. Allen

Don't have much value unless you trade DeLauter who isn't surplus as you said .... won't get much for injury plagued Espino either (and regret if you do trade him). Brito is the next best prospect that could be basis for a back-end reliever (maybe not the stud you want). But, more importantly, it will take more than a stud reliever to overcome the current WS odds (22nd best odds - tied with Det -- 8th worst) - as BCH says -- most hitters need time to adjust (not all like Kwan). Good luck with that bet.... Be patient 2025 looks more promising

I was of course being facetious, besides a team can only win 1 PPI draft pick no matter what. In all seriousness, I hope we can keep DeLauter's rookie status intact for 2025 if possible. If not, a healthy Espino might be able to make it back into the top 100 on all three lists.

Now that Manzardo officially qualifies for a PPI pick, I'll be pretty annoyed if he isn't on the MLB team by April 14th. Unless he is totally sucking for some reason.

I doubt they will keep Manzardo off the big league club if they feel he is ready. They will bring in a veteran with an opt out to compete with him for that spot... They will also give Pries a chance to try and take the spot as well, but he doesn't have the overall talent that Manzardo...

Pries is a non-factor. If it's not Manzardo it will be DDLS/Naylor. If bot Manzardo and DDLS don't make the cut I could see a vet added at that point. Maybe we can reclaim Rivas.

I wouldn't rule out Pries... He had a very roller coaster of a season, but he had a very strong showing last spring. He has shown flashes of ability but hasn't been consistent... Let's see how he does in the spring...

Rivas has four more teams he has to be signed with and released from before coming back to Cleveland... timing should be about right.....

Something about this guy gives me breakout vibes.

He posted solid numbers at the plate overall last season in the Arizona Complex League, but the groundball percentage is troubling. A career GB% of 45% is no bueno.

Hell yeah! We could get a haul for Kwan and Gimenez!

You're talking about two summers in the DSL and one stateside league. Too early to use career stats IMO.

What sticks out to me.

He is reported to be 5'8" 150 lbs. on Fangraphs/Bref, but I want to think he looks bigger than that to me. Are those his numbers when he signed or recent? IDK.

Hitting 9 doubles, 6 homers and stealing 21 bases without getting caught in 36 games certainly intrigues me. My uneducated/internet opinion? He had a somewhat recent growth spurt which affected his abilities initially, and now that's a plus.

Being on the list(s) gives the Guardians a partial motive to include him on the OD Roster.. sure..but, not a very influential motive...
