You could see some piggybacking though with guys, especially with those on limited innings...
Theoretically, it's just a matter of scheduling.. some flexibility should be
considered.. Three pairs of Piggybacks following your A1 and B1:

A1 <==== five to seven IP; bullpen gets four to two IP's
B1 <==== five to seven IP; bullpen gets four to two IP's
C1 <==== four to six IP / C2 four to three IP's
D1 <==== four to six IP / D2 four to three IP's
E1 <==== four to six IP / E2 four to three IP's

Next time through the rotation the "2's" open.. All the "1's" are slated for no
less than 120 IP for the season.. and no more than 200 IP's.. Bullpen work
is what gets shorted for the C, D, and E starters, both 1's and 2's.. and it
should.. This keeps the work load spread across 8 starters while assuring
more than adequate rest/care..

We have more SPs than RPs, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the piggybacking...

I'm not trying to burst anyone's bubble or be a Debbie Downer, but I'm going to temper my expectations for now. What wasn't foreseen in Lindor's development was his power and physical maturation. I don't think we realize how rare talents like Lindor and JRam are sometimes. Hey, if Rocchio becomes the next Lindor then you sure as hell aren't going to hear me complain, but I'll have to see it to believe it. I do think Rocchio is going to be a good ML SS at the very least. How good is difficult to say, but I'm not putting my money on him being the next Lindor. There's a story that numbers cannot tell.

I could absolutely see a piggyback with Morris. Keep Morris to 4 or 5 innings until his limit isn't in danger of being exceeded. If Pilkington earn's one of the other spots then use Gaddis, Curry or Morgan to pitch behind Morris. Pilkington is a workhorse so if he is performing well then there is no reason to limit his innings. It's going to fun watching all of this play out.

Agreed.

I don't expect Rocchio to develop Lindor's power.

Saying "this guy is like Lindor" and expecting him to develop Lindor's power is like expecting a sixth round QB to turn into Tom Brady.

It just doesn't happen.

I still think we're underrating Rocchio. He should be close to as touted as Lindor was.

Lindor didn't have a lot of power in the minors so we never really know until someone develops and is given a chance, but you cannot expect it either.

The last of the classic five tools to develop is power.. That said.. Rocchio doesn't have the kind of physical build that Lindor had/has. Arias does.. Gimenez does.. Freeman doesn't.. JRam does.. Tena does.. etc..

Some players the power comes with their natural swings over the size as well. I'll wait until he a few years older to really say one way or the other. He though doesn't look like he can put on to much more weight/muscle without losing some athleticism in return...

It is always extremely unfair to compare a youngster to an established MLB player, esp one that is a generational talent like Lindor. Such comparisons lead to unfair expectations.

However, Rocchio already displays much more power than Lindor did at the same ages...as measured by ISO...and its not close.

On the other hand, Lindor made better contact, per K rates.

What hampers Rocchio, that Lindor didn't have to deal with, is missing an entire year of baseball and the concussion he suffered last season.

Plus Lindor didn't have to deal with sharing his position with several others, as Rocchio has had to do. He was allowed to play SS exclusively. There are obvious benefits to being trained to play multiple positions, but there is also a downside. You dont become a better SS by playing 3B.

IMO Rocchio is at the moment our best prospect, because...all things considered...he has the best odds of being a consistently productive MLB player.

But expecting him to be in any way a Lindor level player is setting him up for failure in the eyes of fans.

I disagree with Rocchio having the best odds of being a consistent MLB player. To me that actually goes to Bibee...

I think Rocchio is going to be a consistent player. What I don't think is likely is him becoming Lindor like. There is physical projection involved here and that can be difficult to do. Hell, this organization didn't expect Lindor to become what he did. They envisioned him much in the same way they do Rocchio, but that doesn't mean the end results will be the same. We can all hope and pray, but expecting Rocchio to become that is setting yourself up for disappointment IMO.

Is anyone projecting Rocchio to become Lindor?

I see a lot of "Whoa, let's not project Rocchio to become Lindor" but I'm failing to see what that's in response to.
