2023 NBA Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The guys I would circle, if consensus mocks have some validity right now....

Wings

Julian Strawther
Jalen Bridges
Jaylen Clark
Terrence Shannon Jr
Brandin Podziemski

Bigs

DaRon Holmes

Just analytically, it seems unlikely Strawther, Podziemski or Holmes will be there......but I guess we'll see.

In our range, my favorite realistic prospect (by far) is Jalen Bridges from Baylor. I think he's exactly the type of profile that turns in to a contributor on the wing. He has the requisite size, demeanor and hustle. He's shown enough shooting to know it is in him (also love his mechanics) and he's willing to play a role at the college level, so he seemingly understands how he contributes to a team winning. He also checks my "GM's will think he's too old" box, where teams can always find value.

He's played both the 3/4 at Baylor / WVU and looks like he has the toughness to give you spot minutes as a small ball 4. His offensive tape looks perfect for this team......he runs the floor, he plays within himself, has really good off ball instincts and doesn't try to pound the air out of the ball. He drifts and relocates when he should, he cuts when he has a lane and he's strong finishing lobs and through contact.

So with all that said, the Grizzlies will definitely take this guy 4 picks ahead of us.

Going from the likes of Cedi and Kevin Love to Luke Travers and then a dude with braids and rubberbands in his hair is *not* a desirable white guy trend for this team to take. @KevinLoveFan would *absolutely* leave if we get this dude.

Anyone have some info on Taylor Funk of Utah State? He’s definitely a UDFA/Camp invite type player, but I’m at least mildly intrigued watching some of his video. Wound up spending 6 years in college due to a RS year and Covid year.

All that being said, he’s 6’9” 230 and shot over 37% from 3 on 6+ attempts the last two seasons. Has a great looking shot, quick releases on catch & shoot, and NBA range. He’s not a spectacular athlete by any means, but not a total stiff either. In lot of the videos I saw he was running off screens and taking shots off pull-ups. Seems to have pretty good touch from 8 feet out, but might not translate against longer athletes.

Digging deep in the barrel here, but these are the types of guys we’re going to have to look at to try to turn up a diamond in the rough for the back end of the roster.

Tourney vs. Mizzou

This guy's interesting, Tosan Evbuomwan from Princeton, picked up basketball late, might be some untapped potential in there. Kind of a playmaking big wing, not really seeing him on draft boards, but he caught my eye.

Do you really want a player from Princeton tho?

Oh God please no. (Toronto gets the first pick in this simulation)

How do y’all feel about going after Jalen Wilson (Duke), Keyontae Johnson (Kansas State), and Emoni Bates (Eastern Michigan) in the second round?
