2023 Season | Series #39 | Guardians @ Reds | Aug. 15-16, 2023

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
cleveland.com tells me that Spencer Stephenson, Spencer Steer and Stuart Stephenson are in the Reds lineup tonite. Anybody get something on any of these guys?

I'd recheck...

Kole Calhoun eating away playing time from Rocchio/Arias annoys the fuck out of me.

Wtf are they doing? And they even bat him 4th.

Really getting tired of Tito and his veteran fetish. Players traded to other teams magically get used the right way, but Tito awards playing time like a mob boss. "I like ya, you're in"

I'm more just worried about what will happen when Freeman is back, especially if he takes Tena's place. If they're going to juggle the 2 main MIFs now around like that, adding a 3rd one will really mess things up.

Freeman and Arias need to play some OF/1B/3B. Move Jose to DH more often and get Calhoun to the bench. Freeman 3B, Rocchio SS, Arias 1B should be the norm. If you want Arias at SS, Rocchio to 3B or DH. There are enough ABs to go around if you sit Calhoun and his crap stats since 2021 the fuck down

You are complaining about a player who is producing when we are trying to still win games....

100 wRc+ on a 391 BABIP, minus both Off and Def and a whopping 033 ISO batting cleanup.

I've posted his stats since 2021 in MLB. Over 600 PA and his OPS was way sub 600, OBP 270ish. He's 37yo, he's done and won't be part of the future. Any of the youngsters can replace him at the dish and offer better defense to boot. It makes no fucking sense to play him.

Maybe it does, since they need some veterans out there and I feel like he has fit in the lineup well in Naylor's absence...

Now, once Naylor comes back, you probably have an argument if he plays more than once or twice a week...

We traded Rosario and Bell supposedly to help see what we've got for the future and help the young players develop and instead we're giving away all these PA's to Calhoun and Laureano. At least Laureano has some team control but it's the Amed situation all over again, only without Amed.

I have no problem with Calhoun getting some at bats...He honestly hasn't been a problem yet. But you guys are correct, he is taking time away from the young guys...

Until we wave the white flag or Naylor gets back, I don't expect much to change. If he is playing well when Naylor does return, I bet he still shows up semi-regularly.

Laureano pre-PED '18-'21 was getting an XBH every 10 ABs, .800ops and 119ops+ and has two years of control left. Worth running him out there for six weeks to see if maybe a change away from Oakland is what he needed or the post PED suspension numbers continue. I don't think Calhoun will be around long once Fry/Naylor are back. If Calhoun can give some 10 years in the big leagues mentoring advice to the romper room while he is here, even better.

Bell is gone and Naylor and Fry are on the IL. With Arias at SS who else besides Calhoun has played 1B?

Think about how much Bell cost and the fact he was a DH that could play a little first...

Both Calhoun and Laureano can play more than one position plus we are missing Naylor and Laureano really isn't taking away ABs of someone we want to get ABs...

Now once Naylor is back, Calhoun goes to the last spot on the bench in a sense... He is trying to get his 10 years playing plus I wouldn't be surprised if Calhoun is back with Cleveland in spring training... He's fit in fairly well with the young guys and that's not going to hurt us...

Who else do we want to see there? Fry, Naylor and Freeman have been out... You want to throw Rocchio or Arias in the 4th spot? OGonz there? Since we are still trying to win the division, you still need a veteran or two on the roster, that's not JRam...
