2024 Around The League Off-Season

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hell I didn't know there were still Hard Rocks around, haven't seen one discussed in MANY ages!

Aight, any predictions here gang?

No real surprises... FWIW - Mitch Garver and JD Martinez were not extended QOs.

Seven players in this year’s free agent class have been tagged with the qualifying offer, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN (X link). Those players are:

So when the Gs sign Ohtani and Bellinger, what does that leave them with in terms of draft picks in 24?

The Seminole tribe in Florida bought the Hard Rock cafe/hotel/casino assets in 2006 and still operate many cafes around the world and two Seminole Hard Rock casinos in Tampa and Hollywood, FL. The Hard Rock in Orlando at Universal Studios has a 3,000 seat concert venue and has concerts 3-4 nights a week year round. I'm going to a concert there this weekend.

The team’s lease at the Oakland Coliseum is only for one more season at the current $1.25 million-per-year rate. That leaves the A’s technically unhoused for 2025-2027. Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao wants to keep the team in Oakland, but has stated that she’s willing to negotiate a lease extension with the A’s, but the ballclub and MLB would have to make it worthwhile for Oakland.
“To extend the ballpark lease for the Oakland A’s to play here in Oakland, there’s going to have to be some conversation, some real conversation, some tangibles for our city of Oakland,” Thao said in an interview with NBC Bay Area’s Raj Mathai in August. “Including the possibility of an expansion team guaranteed, including the possibility of a name staying here in the city of Oakland. … I’m not going to stand here and allow for there to be abuse in this so-called relationship that we have.”

This looks like a great deal for Chicago...

Chicago also gets 2023 9th round draftee Riley Gowens...

I like Bummer, but Atlanta is spending a lot on him...

No idea where he will land, but I think he'll hit the ground running. Calling it now, he'll win a ROY award.

I heard the A's will use the AAA Las Vegas Aviator's ballpark until a new one is built for the major league club.

The Mayor is delusional. MLB would rather have the A's play at the Field of Dreams in Dyersville or a random Spring Training facility before spending more time as a lame duck franchise in Oakland.

Oakland is telling its ex-girlfriend she is really going to be sorry she left! REALLY sorry. But he'll take her back, please come back!
