2024 Season | Series #1 | Guardians @ A's | March 28-31, 2024

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Last year Fry was hitting .303/.837 on July 3rd. Then he went into a 1-for-18 slump which dropped him to .250/.736 on Aug. 4. That's when he pulled a hammy doing the splits at first base and was out for a month. The last month of the season he was 3-for-17 playing sporatically.

But he had a great first half before the slump and injury. He's 28 now and in his prime. I think he's going to be an important contributor this year, especially against left-handed pitching, and you know opponents throw every left-hander they have at us, even if they have to dredge somebody up from the minors.

Looks like today’s game will have window w rain ending around 515 locally …. So maybe delayed but the evening there looks good

@BMAN

This lineup kind of tells you how they will use Fry I feel like... He went 3-4 and looked good, but isn't playing tonight. Him and Laureano are both sitting against the RH starter, so my hunch is Fry is the platoon vs LH SPs and fill in on guys days off...
Fuckers.

It's a lot colder and windier than people are used to in this part of town. Expect the crowd to be very sparse and I'm still not sure this game will be played.

Ain’t the weather keeping them away…… Due to travel issues, if there is a window to get it in, they will. Heck, we played in snow before …. 50, cold damp is a heat wave…. I already started preparing for my daughter to play in worse tomorrow….

Oakland Coliseum has a park factor of 96 over the last three years where 100 is neutral. So it's somewhat pitcher friendly. In terms of home runs it gets an 84 so this is a very hard park to homer in.

The Mariners park where we play next is the most pitcher friendly in baseball with a factor of 92. But it's easier to hit homers there as its HR factor is 98, putting it in the middle of the pack. Maybe there's a lot of room in foul territory.

What I noticed from the Statcast numbers is that the park factor is negligible in all but a few cases. Coors Field is the most hitter friendly due to altitude at 112 followed by Fenway and 108 and the GAB in Cincinnati at 107. Every other park in the majors ranges from 95 to 104 except for Seattle at 92.

So basically you have one really pitcher friendly park and three hitter friendly ones and the other 26 are within 5% of average. In fact, 16 parks are between 98-102 when it comes to scoring.

The home run factors are a lot more spread out, going from the GAB at 131 to Comerica, home of the Tigers, at 79. But while a park like Comerica is really tough to homer in due to deep fences there's also a lot more ground for the outfielders to cover and doubles in the gap are more likely to be triples, so it's a wash. Comerica gets an overall score of 97. It's park factor for triples is 174.

Anyway, don't expect many home runs on this west coast trip. Oakland Coliseum is 16% tougher than average to homer in and the weather is cold. Seattle will have highs in the low 60's the first two games and 50 on Wednesday.

I'd like to know the break down between homers hit in Oakland during day games vs night games.

Just our luck …. Bigger rain coming in an hour ….. it will be called in 3rd ….
