I think that the loss of Kwan is a much bigger deal than many think. There's an old individual stat that nobody uses anymore, because it involves 'help' from teammates, but afterall, its a team sport.
I believe in it strongly. Its called Runs Created...Runs+RBIs-HRs. Kwan was on pace to create well over 162 runs.
One created run per game is a lot to lose.
I also agree somewhat with Tondo in that going .500 the rest of the way is a fair assumption. This was a .500 team going into the season with a somewhat improvement over last year. .500 would have been a five game improvement with the same big four in the offense and tryouts everywhere else. (Except for Brennan, those tryouts have been busts so far.) A five game improvement with basically the same pen. (Stephan and Karinchak are gone. A five game improvement with Bibee-Williams-Allen and both Bieber TMac coming off major injuries. (Biebs is gone and nobody knows about Williams.
A very fast start doesn't change that.
If we win 86 games, that's a ten win improvement.
