22 Columbus Clippers Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Benson also has a 800 BABIP and 4 K in 10 PA

Josh Naylor has yet to hit a fly ball in 17 PA, 69% GB rate

Benson had a good week it looks wise stat wise...

Leader in ABs has been Fry, who is a C/1B/3B, but spent the week playing 1B... He is someone I am going to keep an eye on especially if Bradley struggles...
If Bobby B continues to struggle the playing time would go in directions other than Fry, especially if another rostered player in Cbus (like Arias or Palacios) is playing well..

I'm just curious how he ends up since I don't know a ton about him and we lack depth with guys who can play catcher at the moment. It is just strange they are primarily playing him at 1B, so I am also curious about that.

Fry is the new Ron Pruitt. (Conehead)

Naylor played the whole game at 1B. So far he has 21 PA, with 4 walks and no strikeouts. At least he appears to be seeing the ball well.

Richie P and Arias at the top of the lineup with over .900 OPS.

Tolman is the GOAT though (1.218 OPS).

Pretty solid first start for Battenfield (6 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 5 K).

Maile will begin Columbus rehab tonight .... feel bad for Lava that his bat has been cold as ice this spring

Anyone can give me the info on Maile? Is he any good defensively as a catcher?

Yes he is D first type - but not on Berto's or Hedgie's level IMO.

From MLBTradeRumors:

It’s his glove (and arm) that lead his tool-set. In parts of six seasons with the Rays, Blue Jays, and Brewers, Maile has thrown out 34% of would-be base-stealers and logged 21 defensive runs saved in 220 games behind the dish.

Does he call a good game? Is he good as our 2nd catcher?

He is an excellent BACKUP catcher.

That said I think we should look at our C situation a little more openly, not the traditional starter/backup roles.

Both are "part-time catchers" and the hotter bat will probably get to play more than a "backup" would. They might even let the pitchers decide who they want to work with for the most part. Until one of them clearly shows more offensively, and that may never happen.

Pilkington with a bad night and struggling in the early season.
