Well sadly, it seems like Cleveland will be out of the playoffs this season so we need to state our opinions on the how to run the off season! @CDAV45 @Gson and everyone else, state your opinions and honestly guys be nice! If you don't like someone's opinion, that's cool, here we are talking about what we would do, so leave people to their delusions even if you don't agree with their decisions...

1. Get Rodriguez up to Cleveland yesterday to see if he could be one of the corner OF options. I think he has a better chance to stick than OGon.
2. Sign Lopez to an extension.
3. Add and Subtract from the SP depth. I'd look to deal both Bieber and Quantrill. I posted a trade on BTV that has Bieber and Freeman going to the Dodgers for Knack. I'd also look to pry one of Black, Winn or Whisenhunt from the Giants. That would give us McKenzie, Williams, Bibee, Allen, Knack, Cantillo and one of Winn/Black/Whisenhunt. Espino will be working his way back and Morris is likely to be a SP again. Plenty of quality depth in that list.
4. Address the OF this offseason. It would be nice to see both Valera and Rodriguez lay claim to the corner OF spots, but they may have to look externally to fill one of them. We need 2 of Kwan, Brennan, Laureano and Straw and 2 of them to go.
5. Adding some mid level C depth wouldn't hurt. Some here would like to see a better back up C, but I'd prefer to see if Haase can regain his 2021 and 2022 form. He handles a pitching staff very well and has as much power as anyone Cleveland has. We also have Fry who hasn't looked bad behind the plate this season. Both can play other positions too.

That's about it. I don't know of anything else I'd like to see happen. I would like to see Brito gets some LF reps this offseason because he's the type of well rounded player that I covet and 2B is pretty locked up at the moment.

Well I gotta do my list....

First off, manager has to be figured out... If it's not Francona, I feel it will be between Venable, Sarbaugh and Tracy... They will do their due diligence, but I'd be very surprised if it's someone other than those three... Venable with keeping the rest of the staff in place, would be the transition on paper, but Sarbaugh is the guy on paper, whose managerial track record and experience with the team, is the guy I am secretly routing for...

Next... we gotta look at the the roster...

Locks for the 24, for the original 40 man roster in my mind...

Pitchers
Allen, Bibee, Cantillo, Clase, Curry, De Los Santos, Hentges, TMac, Morgan, Sandlin, Stephan, Williams

Position players
Util Fry, C B. Naylor, 2B/LF Brito, 2B/SS Gimenez, 1B/RF J. Naylor, 3B JRam, Util Arias, OF Brennan, OF Kwan,

That's 21 players that I believe will be on the roster... I don't see any of those guys being moved...

So we have to look at the next 19 spots...

Giolito, Lopez and Moore are all free agents.. All will likely sign after the 40 man roster needs to be set, so it's likely, even if we retain one or more of them, we won't add them until after the Nov date...

Then we have to talk about Bieber and Quantrill... Both guys could help us in 24, but both guys also could be dealt. I don't think they have a ton of value, so I am expecting them back...

Now last pitching spots on the 40 man...

Karinchak is in Arb, so his cost vs production... he isn't going to get much of a raise, but likely will, so is he worth retaining?

Guys like Herrin, Gaddis, Morris and Kelly are on the roster bubble for 24... I am guessing Kelly will be DFA'D and given a good MiLB deal...

Also we have to factor in the rule 5 and MiLB invites, so I am expecting a group of like...

Bilous, Plesac, Vallimont, Enright, Gose, Mikolajchuk, Misiaszek, Norris, C. Smith, Burns, Hankins, Espino, Aleman, Stanley, Sharpe, Hickman, etc...

So I have 12 pitchers listed above that are locks... Let's do 8 more for the initial 40 man...

Bieber, Quantrill, Herrin, Gaddis, Espino, Morris, Karinchak... Then one more either Burns or Hankins if they feel either could be taken in the rule 5... But I don't have an internal list...

Now onto position players... I had 9 above...

When it comes to catcher Naylor is the starter... I feel like we will DFA Gallagher... then we will try to retain him on a MiLB deal... Also we will try to retain Lavastida, Haase and Leon... We will go into 24 with the 40 man only having Fry and Naylor as the catchers. So we will look for a deal that way, to maybe add another catcher via free agency/trade... So going into 24, we don't have the backup catcher spot 100% situated since I like Fry in an util role not just straight catcher...

When it comes to the INF...

J.Naylor, JRam and Gimenez have the starting spots... Arias, I feel like is on this roster as a SS or utility guy since he can play multiple positions at a good defensive clip...

So when it comes to depth, I don't think we need to protect, Bracho Frias etc... we have Freeman, Rocchio, Tena, Martinez, Brito, Noel plus guys like Pries and Schneeman with AAA experience mixed in. I expect Calhoun back on an MiLB deal since we will offer one to him... Manzardo is a candidate for the roster, but doesn't have to be protected, so he won't start the off season,

I feel like Cleveland will listen to offers on everyone on that list... Rocchio would take a haul... Freeman I feel like will be traded this offseason... I also don't know if we will keep both Martinez and Tena... I'd have Tena on the way out... Giants maybe?

Then for the OF... Kwan and Brennan are sure bets... Laureano and Straw are likely back depending on if we make a trade... I feel like we need to try and protect J Rodriquez and Valera is definitely in the OF mix... Halpin and Fox aren't rule 5, and we have to include Noel, Pries, Brito, DeLauter etc in this mix since we all want to see Brito playing LF. I feel like OGonz is gone... Laureano will be moved if we acquire a RF that's a RH bat...

I feel like we will trade for a RF, who exactly, I don't know... I don't expect Renfroe to be on the list since we aren't going to offer the years, he likely wants...

I feel like our initial 40 man roster will be, with let's say 20 position players...

Cs - B. Naylor, Fry
INF - J. Naylor, Gimenez, JRam, Arias, Rocchio/Freeman, A.Martinez/Tena, Noel, Brito
OF - Kwan, Brennan, Straw, Valera, Laureano/Acquired OF, J Rodriquez

Then we have 4 more spots... Pitchers? Pries + Schneeman? Who knows, but that creates spots if we move on from Freeman, Tena and OGonz...

Seems like Mike Trout, could possibly become available...

Can we get him within reason and the Angels to pay part of the contract? He would be a guy, on paper, we would love to have! His contract is the trouble in my mind...

His inability to stay on field the last four years would be a major concern also.

That's true, but having Trout with JRam and playing RF looks really, really good on paper for 24 until the duo 100% declines...

Maybe we can get Ohtani too.

Think the Yankees would trade us Judge after this season?

Then what are the odds Acuna demands out of Atlanta and only wants to come to Cleveland?

Any chance we can stuff enough roids into Barry Bonds to bring him back as our DH?

Yeesh... can we not fill this thread with Mike Trout pipedreams before it even gets off the ground?

What's funny is, it seems like the Angels are actually going to listen to offers for Trout, so it's not as much of a pipedream as it has been. I feel like it is a pipedream for a team like Cleveland, since I am doubting Cleveland could financially make the move, but we have the trade assets to get him...

It’s 100% a pipe dream for Cleveland.

Hey, we are still allowed to dream aren't we? Lol and maybe we could get involved in it since we have a good farm system! Lol

Okay, here's the idea...

Giants I feel like want more MIF help, but don't want to move guys near MLB ready...

Giants get
MIF Freeman
MIF Tena
(Maybe PTBNL)

Cleveland gets
OF Rayner Arias
LHP Joe Whitman
(Maybe PTBNL)

Reason why for Cleveland...

Cleveland has a lot of MIFs and honestly don't have a spot for all of them so swapping Freeman and Tena to a team that needs MIF makes a lot more sense... The two guys getting in return, one is a prospect, in my mind, is ranked with Chourio, Francisca and would make a nasty trio down there. The other is a local 6'5 left handed kid from Akron, Ohio... He was solid at Kent State in 23...

Reason for SF, they need MIF help and adding two solid prospects like Tena and Freeman, will add talent to guys like Luciano to cover an aging INF...

Thoughts? @CDAV45 @Gson @Tondo

I would like to continue admiring Trout's ability from a distance because I don't want the agony of wondering when he is coming off the IL. The Angels have little I'm interested in outside of O'Hoppe and Rengifo. If I could get Rengifo to play one of the OF spots I would do it. He hits, has pretty good pop, a strong arm, steals some bases and mashes LHP. He would help this team in that role, but clearly we don't need him in the dirt. No, I don't have a good argument to pursue Rengifo. He's just the type of player that I like as he is very well rounded. He can play all over the diamond and is on pace to hit 24 HR, 23 2B and 6 3B over a full season's worth of AB. His plate discipline has improved which has drastically improved his OBP. He's hitting 324/387/541/928 against LHP. His overall numbers against RHP aren't as strong, but a lot of his power is facing them. I just like him as a player.

Oh God no! WTF is Whitmore anyway? I can't find him on their roster and the only Joe Whitmore in BR played in 1908. I'm not selling 2 good ML players for a rookie level prospect and a question mark.

Yes, the Giants could be looking for MIF help. They have some nice young SP in Black and Whisenhunt as I've mentioned numerous times. There is some pieces right there for a deal to be struck. If Rayner Arias is added to the deal then great because he looks like a nice young prospect, but he's years away and that doesn't concern me right now.

They aren't going to trade Black or Wisenhunt... It makes no sense for them too cause it would be like us trading Bibee or Williams right for a position player right before Bieber is a free agent...

And I will fix my original post, I didn't notice my autocorrect put his name as Whitmore not Whitman, that's partially my bad and he had a solid 23 with Kent State and is from Akron Ohio... He was the 69th pick in the 23 draft and Arias is in the same category as Chourio as a prospect... Arias is a low risk as a prospect as you will get in a 17 year old...

The Giants have ample SP depth so they very well could deal one of those guys.

What isn’t going to happen is Cleveland dealing for low level minor leaguers.
