Andre Drummond - LeBron's Robin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah I get it, just through the years Drummond is like the biggest name we've been able to talk about trading since what our 3 days of having Wiggins?
If we're gonna cut ties to the leading rebounder in the NBA over the last million years, I at least hope to get some kind of return. Getting nothing just feels like a complete punt by us again on the season. This team can battle for a 8-10 seed the rest of the year. Why not do it? Trade for a piece.
But we gave up nothing to get him and he was an All Star/was leading the league in rebounds before we got him.

That's why we pay Koby the big bucks, fleece somebody. Modern problems call for modern solutions.

In the grand scheme of things, I think it's actually better for both Drummond and the Cavs if they don't buy him out. That way, the Cavs could still S&T him in the offseason and whatever team acquires Drummond maintains his Bird rights. If he gets bought out, it'll limit his potential suitors because there just aren't going to be a ton of teams with cap space that need a center.

Hopefully, they can find a trade for him now, but I honestly don't think Drummond is going to give two shits about sitting out and collecting checks. Probably what he prefers.

Drummond was seriously leading the tank. He was such a bad influence it was wearing out other players. He simply doesn't care about winning. Its all Drummond, all the time. He drove the Pistons franchise into irrelevance only now they are trying to rebuild from. Guys like Drummond are toxic.

I don't want to watch Andre Drummond collect a ring with LeBron, no thanks.
I'm with the small minority of fans who just want NBA players to play through their contracts and not join another team when the going gets tough.
I see. I guess I don’t think Drummond can help anyone collect a ring.

Drummond has no value.

Buying him out always felt like the most likely scenario.

I was not totally all-in on the move last year because of exactly this. I thought they'd really struggle to move him and had no hopes of him actually changing his nature and staying here long-term.

But, I've changed my mind. Even though I was right, it was still probably worth the homerun swing just in case.

Yeah, the Cavs gonna look like a d*ck if they don't buy him out if not traded by trade deadline (which may also affect getting players to sigb here in the future) ... However you feel about Drummond, he has been professional in handling the sitting out while trying to be traded thing...
But that's the exact thing that is unprofessional. He's sitting out because he unprofessionally refused to play if he wasn't starting ahead of Allen.

Is there any evidence to support this? I was thinking it was more of a mutual decision between his camp and cavs management to avoid injury and possibly to avoid his value to drop further as he was playing badly at that point and his minutes also gonna be decreased significantly as they are going full Allen....

Ben’s public speculation is often based on something.

So is he guessing that’s the case or not?

Thought he was kept out because he came to practice hours late and missed multiple film studies. Looked like he was dogging it out there and only giving effort when he had the ball. Maybe that preceded their effort to start Allen after realizing the two center lineup was beyond awful.

I think it was worth the risk and can’t blame Koby one bit. The question is can LeBron/AD bully him into doing the little things without having plays called for him. Cavs traded embarrassing scraps for him which I though might’ve humbled him in terms of his on court performance but nope.

As other posters have mentioned, if we buy him out he loses his bird years and the option of a sign and trade this summer. I think Drummond is still delusional in thinking he’s worth a lot of money. So IMO a buyout isn’t likely
