Andre Drummond - LeBron's Robin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think it comes down to relationships with agents for the future. If you have a guy that you have no intentions of resigning and who wants a buy out, it just helps the overall relationship with the agent to buy out their client.

Or, it teaches players and their agents that all they have to do is thrown a tantrum against the Cavs, and the Cavs will pay them their full salary and give them their release. So if those are the kind of guys we're trying to attract....no thanks. That's one part of the NBA that just makes me ill.

If players want more freedom to leave a team with which they are unhappy, they should agree to a clause in the next CBA permitting them to reduce their salary in exchange for a buyout. The current CBA prohibits that because the Players Association doesn't like the idea of give backs. Well, if they want more buyouts and "FREEEEEEEEEEEDOMMMMMM!", let them give back some of the cash for the contract they signed, but have since decided they don't want to fulfill.

Otherwise, forget it.

Owners should be allowed to sign rookies on entry level unpaid internships, oh wait that’s college

With a "beat 'em with with a chain" clause to be activated when they get uppity, right?

Seriously, why can't players have any power in a player-driven league? So the cavs can trade Andre Drummond for two 2nd round picks?

Andre Drummond didn’t have to sign a long term guaranteed contract. He freely decided to sign that. He could have taken a QO and then refused to sign anything but 1 + 1 deals (player option).

Andre Drummond exercised his $28 million player option this summer. He could have become a UFA but decided not to.

He’s a free agent at the end of the season - all of two months and a week (plus playoffs if his team makes it). He’ll make $14 million over those two months. I think he‘s a poor candidate to be poster dude for the oppressed workers of the world.

The NBA does have a players association and a CBA.

What they really want are guaranteed contracts and money along with the unilateral ability to exit that contract. That’s not reasonable.

we are still talking about this guy?
I'm going to find the Kevin Porter Jr. thread.

At least Drummond is still on the team.

Talking about KPJ is like talking about the very hot but batshit crazy girlfriend that you dumped because you couldn’t put up with her shit anymore, but now you’re stalking her as she dates somebody else who’s obviously getting his brains literally and figuratively fucked out of him. We don’t need KPJ’s shit around our young team.

Who's talking about sex with the wife they are trying to divorce? The new lady is younger, more athletic and fit, and does everything you like.
And all the things you mentioned about the batshit crazy ex-GF is exactly why you can't stop yourself from talking about her, even though you know it's for the best that your no longer together.

I'm so sick of this team or that team would be interested in Drummond IF there was a buyout. Who cares?
If there was a buyout, you can pay him peanuts and get one of the best rebounders around.
But a buyout does nothing for the Cavs. Except maybe grease the skids to get Altman out the door.

I doubt a buyout has any effect on Altman. Realistic people knew what Drummond's value was when they traded for him, it was a shot in the dark but they tried. It didn't work out so they are out some cash. Gilbert gave 120 million to Love for no reason, so I doubt he cares about the cash going to Drummond.
