Andre Drummond - LeBron's Robin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
22M that declines over 3 years. Oh man.

The guys REALLY like Andre and he is having fun playing defense. The Cavs are going to pay him. Can they avoid the Tax before the young guys get their extensions?

I love the energy he brings. Need to see some consistency, but he continues to play the right way after some poor decisionmaking with the Pistons.

They gotta start talking about re-signing Sexton next season before his contract is up. I know,he's gonna want more money than De'aaron Fox,especially if the Cavs go to the playoffs this season or next...

WTF is your problem as a whole?
I dunno. Seems like we might have a player with talent and who's playing at a high level but some people can't wait to find a way to get rid of him because he doesn't fit their preconceptions about what constitutes a winning style of play. I get tired of seeing people always bashing players on the roster, always wanting something different.

Whenever I hear Drummond’s name, it makes me think of a turkey leg aka drumstick. But because he’s a large human being it makes me think of those cartoonish caveman mega legs at theme parks that taste and smell delicious.

So that’s what I associate him with. That and @RchfldCavRaised

Where's the "informative" button when you need it....

I ask why do you need to be aggressive. You could have asked nicely. It's not the first time you do that.

It has nothing to do with preconceptions. It's about allocating a big portion of your cap space to a Center, an old school Center at that that his motor runs mostly cold unless he gets touches that do not always benefit the team. He is too focused on individual matchups rather than what benefits the team.

The reason I said what I said is that I very much understand how much we need a dominant center. I also understand that he can be dominant when he wants to. But the reason it is risky and quite frankly might be dumb down the road is down to couple of reasons:

1.Like I said, his motor runs hot and cold, but mostly cold. His play from year to year and game to game changes all the time as well. Signing that kind of player to a long term deal for so much is risky.

2.We are so invested in the back court(Sexton,Garland and Okoro), and spending 20%+ of our cap space on a center with so many question marks when in the near future we will need to make a decision to extend those guys for a lot of $ seems like poor team planning. Oh, and don't forget, we will be adding a top 10 pick to the mix.

I mentioned Drummond in the mold of an old school Center, but he has shown some little ability to shoot from 3 and pass. He is also great at generating steals when engaged which I will not take away from him. So perhaps he can expand his skillset further, but again, unless he is a real plus in those areas it may not be as beneficial as you think. A lot of his passes are turnovers and a lot of his shots are misses, so they are a bunch of wasted possessions overall. That is why some of us want him to focus on what he is good at, but again, that goes back to how much we want to spend on a 28 year old traditional center with an inconsistent motor.

Did you love the Love extension at the time?
