Andre Drummond - LeBron's Robin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Competition is always good for anybody. Deciding minutes played based on salary is a team killer!

Drummond is going to continue to turn the ball over if
he insists on trying to dribble in the land off a spin move.
He seems to get the ball knocked out of his hands more
time than not in these circumstances.

He also could greatly improve his FG% if he worked for
low post position where he can just catch, turn and dunk.
Enough of the weak floaters!

Having Javale as a big with similar skills but who plays at 100% effort has to make the job a bit easier too. The contrast just jumps out at you. I should have posted this when the trade happened, but having watched Javale on the Lakers all last year, I was pretty sure y'all would love him on the team.

I have to say, I am impressed with Bickerstaff and the way he handles players. He’s encouraging and says all the right things, but if a player is not playing the right way, JB will limit his minutes, regardless of his salary or stature.

When Drummond is playing well, JB plays him 35-44 minutes a night. When Drummond isn’t playing well, he’ll play 20 minutes.

You can talk to NBA players all you want, but let’s face it, this is a player’s league. In the long run, the only real leverage a coach has is to control a player’s minutes.

In this way Bickerstaff is trying to condition Drummond into playing the right way, which in the end will be better for all parties involved, player, team and coach.

The important thing is the Cavs continue to win, regardless if Drummond is playing 44 minutes a night or 20.

How does Jarrett Allen compare to Drummond defensively? I'm half tempted to pay Allen more than market value and resign a guy like Javale and maybe one other decent big.

I don't see how you can keep him when he refuses to set a screen with his offensive ability.

I don't mean he sets mediocre screens. I mean he doesn't set them at all. Ever. In any game. Makes him SO hard to fit in on offense.

would love to see what Sexton and Garland could do with an athletic big who set mean screens

I'm just listening to games this year, so this is an honest question - is McGee setting acreens?

less active hands so he gets less steals. blocks and rim protection about the same. but the big difference is floor awareness. jarrett makes the right play and keeps the offense moving and will also anchor the defense. i'm all up for this idea.

Trade Drummond at deadline and in off season could we sign John Collins away from the hawks? He’s young and seems like a good fit with our guards/wings
